The refreshed ASUS Chromebook CX15 is a large-screen Chromebook for browsing, streaming, and documents, but the reviewed 4GB configuration is not built for demanding multitasking. RTINGS tested the CX1505CTA-WS48P, with an Intel Processor N50, 4GB of RAM, 128GB of eMMC storage, and a 1080p IPS display. Its review identifies modest performance, slow storage, a washed-out image, and relatively short battery life as drawbacks. Those findings apply to that configuration—not every laptop sold under the CX15 name.
Which ASUS Chromebook CX15 configuration is this?
Check the full product code before relying on a review or specification. The CX15 name covers distinct models: the refreshed CX1505CTA generation reviewed by RTINGS, an older CX1505CKA with a Celeron N4500, and a separately branded Chromebook Plus CX15 with a Core 3-N355. Their specifications and test results should not be treated as interchangeable. RTINGS’ 2026 review concerns the CX1505CTA-WS48P.
Reviewed CX1505CTA-WS48P configuration
- Intel Processor N50
- 4GB RAM
- 128GB eMMC storage
- 15.6-inch, 1920 × 1080 IPS display
RTINGS reports that its test unit was manufactured in March 2026. The tested setup is an entry-level configuration, so its performance assessment should not be generalized to higher-spec CX15 models.

Other CX15 configurations
ASUS lists CX15 configurations with processors ranging from the Celeron N4500 and Intel N50, N150, or N250 to the Core 3-N355; memory options from 4GB to 16GB; and eMMC storage from 64GB to 256GB. Not every combination is offered in every market. ASUS lists non-touch 15.6-inch Full HD panels, with either a wide-view 300-nit option or a TN 250-nit option. Port counts also depend on the SKU: the family’s listed connections include one or two USB-C ports, USB-A, HDMI 1.4, and a combo audio jack. How is the refreshed CX15 for everyday use?
For basic tasks, RTINGS considers the tested N50 model suitable for web browsing, video streaming, and writing documents. Its 4GB of RAM and slow eMMC storage are more limiting when many tabs or Android apps need to stay open, so it is a better fit for light use than demanding multitasking. ASUS describes the memory as onboard, and RTINGS says the reviewed family’s memory and storage are not upgradeable; do not buy on the assumption that you can expand them later.
What are the screen and battery-life trade-offs?
Display
The reviewed unit’s 1080p IPS panel gives it a large Full HD workspace, but RTINGS describes its image as washed out. The CX15 family also includes a lower-brightness TN option, so the N50 review’s panel assessment cannot be applied to every SKU. Confirm both panel type and brightness when comparing listings.

Battery
RTINGS characterizes battery life on the refreshed N50 model as relatively short, but its review passage does not provide a specific battery-test duration. A separate TechRadar test measured 7 hours of continuous video playback on an older Celeron N4500 CX1505 model in 2025; that result is context for the older laptop, not a measurement of the 2026 N50 configuration. TechRadar’s older CX1505 review covers that earlier model.

Is the CX15 a good choice for school?
It can suit schoolwork centered on browser-based research, streaming lessons, and document writing, particularly if a large screen is a priority. The tested 4GB model is a less comfortable choice for students who routinely keep many tabs and apps active at once. Before purchasing, compare the RAM and storage on the exact listing rather than assuming that every CX15 has the reviewed configuration.
Rank #3
- This Asus Chromebook adopts Intel N50 dual‑core chip paired with 4GB LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB SSD, enough to run web courses and common office software smoothly for student learning and daily paperwork.
- 15.6‑inch 1080P IPS narrow‑edge screen provides comfortable wide‑angle viewing, ideal for long‑time online studying, video meetings and casual watching videos.
- It undergoes military‑grade durability testing to resist minor bumps during commuting; the lightweight body and 13‑hour‑long battery fully support all‑day use at school or in the office.
- Pre‑loaded with practical Google applications under ChromeOS, it also includes 3‑month free Google AI Pro service, which helps users sort documents and complete creative tasks more efficiently.
- Equipped with Wi‑Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4 and multiple functional ports, together with a privacy‑protected webcam, it can connect external monitors and accessories to meet diversified home‑office and study needs.
The 15.6-inch screen may be useful for desk-based work, but size is not the only consideration: confirm the model’s weight and dimensions on its listing if portability matters. The available sources do not establish a single weight figure for the full CX15 family.
How does the 2026 CX15 differ from the older Celeron model?
The refreshed model discussed here is the CX1505CTA with an Intel Processor N50; the older CX1505CKA uses a Celeron N4500. TechRadar’s 7-hour continuous-playback figure belongs to its 2025 review of an older Celeron CX1505, not the refreshed N50. The Chromebook Plus CX15 with Core 3-N355 is another distinct product tier. ASUS announced the CX14/CX15 family on April 18, 2025, and later announced Walmart US availability for the refreshed CX15 on May 18, 2026. ASUS’ May 2026 availability announcement gave a $199 starting price at launch; that is a dated launch price, not a current quote or confirmation of current stock.

ASUS’ 2025 family announcement said the design was tested to meet or exceed the MIL-STD-810H standard. That is ASUS’ statement about the product family, not an independent durability assessment of the reviewed unit. Read ASUS’ April 18, 2025 announcement.
What should you check before buying?
- Model suffix and processor: make sure the listing is for the refreshed CX1505CTA if you are evaluating the 2026 N50 review, not the older CX1505CKA or the Chromebook Plus model.
- Memory and storage: verify the exact RAM and eMMC capacity; the tested unit has 4GB and 128GB.
- Panel: check whether the SKU has an IPS or TN screen and its listed brightness.
- Ports: confirm whether that product code has one or two USB-C ports, along with the other connections you need.
- Price and availability: check the current retailer listing for your region. The announced $199 Walmart US launch price was specific to May 2026 and does not establish today’s price or inventory.
For comparisons, match processor, RAM, storage, panel type and brightness, ports, comparable battery-test conditions, size, and current street price. A higher-spec CX15 or the Chromebook Plus CX15 may address some performance needs, but neither should be assumed to share the reviewed N50 model’s results.
