The ASUS Chromebook CM30 Detachable (CM3001) is designed to switch between tablet and laptop use: ASUS describes a magnetic stand cover and an optional keyboard for the two setups. What actually comes in the box depends on the regional model and bundle, so check the filmed unit’s package rather than assuming every CM3001 includes the same accessories.

The video is titled “ASUS Chromebook CM30 Detachable: Unboxing & First Impressions” and was published by Chrome Unboxed on January 9, 2024. Its description says the channel received the device from ASUS before its official release; that disclosure identifies the video’s context, not the contents of a current retail bundle.

Do not assume that the keyboard, stylus, or protective case shown—or absent—in one package comes with every CM3001. ASUS’s Canada specifications page places the stand cover and protective case/USI 2.0 garaged stylus under “Included in the Box (Optional),” while its U.S. product page describes the keyboard as optional. Confirm the exact model, country, and listing bundle before buying.

How does the CM30 work as a tablet or laptop?
The CM3001 is a detachable Chromebook rather than a conventional clamshell laptop. ASUS describes a magnetic stand cover for propping up the tablet and an optional detachable keyboard for laptop-style typing. With the keyboard removed, the screen can be used as a tablet; attach the keyboard when you need a physical typing surface.
The accessory bundle matters to that experience: a tablet and a keyboard-equipped setup are not necessarily both included in the package. Check whether the particular listing includes the stand cover and keyboard, and whether a pen or case is part of that bundle.
CM3001 specifications to know
ASUS Canada’s specifications page lists a 10.5-inch WUXGA display at 1920 × 1200, a MediaTek Kompanio 520 processor, 128GB eMMC storage, and either 4GB or 8GB of onboard memory. These are configurations listed on the Canadian page, not a guarantee that every regional CM3001 has identical memory, storage, or connectivity.

That page also lists one USB-C port supporting display and power delivery, a 3.5mm combo audio jack, and a 45W USB-C adapter. ASUS says Wi-Fi 6 is available, but connectivity can vary by configuration and market. For the exact unit in the video, rely on its label or matching retail listing rather than applying a regional specification to every CM30.
Battery and optional stylus claims
ASUS advertises up to 12 hours of battery life. That is a manufacturer-stated maximum, not an independently measured runtime for the unit in the unboxing video.
If the bundle includes the optional USI 2.0 garaged stylus, ASUS’s U.S. product page advertises 4096 pressure levels and says a 15-second charge provides 45 minutes of use. Those are ASUS feature claims, not results established by the unboxing. Check the package or listing to determine whether the pen is included.

Which CM30 bundle should you compare?
“CM30” does not identify one fixed retail package. When comparing listings, match the full CM3001 model and region, then check the details that change the practical setup:

- Wi-Fi or other connectivity configuration.
- Whether the stand cover, detachable keyboard, stylus, or protective case is included or sold separately.
- Whether the listing matches the unit shown in the video.
ASUS’s product page calls the CM30’s versatility “great” in marketing language; the concrete distinction is that the magnetic stand cover and optional keyboard support tablet and laptop-style use. The value of a particular bundle depends on which accessories it actually contains.
