ASUS, BIOSTAR, GIGABYTE and MSI all publish guidance for enabling TPM 2.0 on at least some of their motherboards. That does not mean every board—or every PC built with one—supports Windows 11. Compatibility depends on the exact motherboard and processor, firmware settings, and Microsoft’s other system requirements. Check the complete PC with Microsoft PC Health Check before deciding to replace hardware or buy a TPM module.
What “Windows 11-ready” means for these motherboards
The manufacturers describe TPM options and Windows 11 compatibility guidance, not a blanket guarantee for every motherboard carrying their brand. Microsoft evaluates the complete computer. Its minimum requirements include TPM 2.0, a compatible processor, UEFI firmware with Secure Boot capability, sufficient memory and storage, compatible graphics, and a qualifying display. Microsoft says these are minimum requirements for installing Windows 11 on a PC; they do not necessarily cover every feature, and the requirements may change. Microsoft’s current Windows 11 system requirements are the authority for the current thresholds.
In particular, an available or enabled TPM setting does not establish that the processor is supported. Nor does a brand-level compatibility page establish that every model or hardware combination qualifies. Use the exact motherboard model and revision, the installed CPU model, and the result for the assembled PC—not the manufacturer name alone.

How the motherboard makers describe TPM support
On many systems, TPM 2.0 is provided by the processor platform’s firmware rather than a separate add-on module. The names and menus vary by board model and UEFI version, so treat these manufacturer examples as starting points and verify the instructions for your specific board.

ASUS
ASUS’s motherboard FAQ, last updated August 28, 2026, directs users to check the Windows 11 motherboard and processor support information. Its Intel example enables PTT at Advanced > PCH-FW Configuration; its AMD example selects Firmware TPM at Advanced > AMD fTPM configuration. These paths are examples, not universal menu directions. ASUS recommends a UEFI Windows installation and warns that a discrete TPM module may not be compatible; adding one also cannot make an unsupported motherboard-and-processor combination meet Windows 11 requirements. See ASUS’s Windows 11 and TPM BIOS FAQ.

GIGABYTE’s 2021 advisory says many of its Intel and AMD motherboards can pass TPM 2.0 verification by enabling the relevant BIOS feature. It identifies Intel PTT on specified Intel platforms and fTPM on AMD AM4 and TRX40 platforms. Because that advisory dates from 2021, consult the current support page and firmware notes for your exact board rather than assuming its examples cover every model or later firmware. See GIGABYTE’s TPM 2.0 advisory.

BIOSTAR
BIOSTAR says most of its motherboards have TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot BIOS options and provides example BIOS navigation. “Most” does not mean every board. Check the model-specific documentation and current BIOS information; use Microsoft’s requirements, rather than a manufacturer FAQ’s repeated summary, to confirm Windows 11’s system criteria. See BIOSTAR’s Windows 11 BIOS FAQ.
MSI
MSI publishes a Windows 11 motherboard compatibility page and separate instructions for enabling TPM. It says users can enable TPM manually in UEFI or consult the support list and latest BIOS. MSI also cautions that a list of boards whose BIOS supports TPM 2.0 is not the same as a Windows 11-compatible motherboard list. Check both the relevant compatibility information and the support details for the exact board. See MSI’s Windows 11 motherboard page and MSI’s TPM 2.0 setup guidance.

How to check whether your PC is compatible
- Identify the exact motherboard. Find its model and, where applicable, revision. Check the manufacturer’s current support page and BIOS notes for that model.
- Confirm the processor separately. Look up the installed CPU against Microsoft’s current processor support information. A motherboard’s TPM support does not establish CPU eligibility.
- Inspect the UEFI TPM setting. Look for the option named by your board’s documentation. Common labels in the manufacturers’ guidance include Intel PTT, AMD fTPM, and Firmware TPM. If it is disabled, follow the model-specific instructions to enable it.
- Check UEFI and Secure Boot. Confirm that the system uses UEFI firmware and that Secure Boot capability and configuration meet Microsoft’s requirements. Do not assume TPM alone covers this check.
- Run Microsoft PC Health Check. Use Microsoft’s app to assess the complete PC against current Windows 11 compatibility requirements. Follow the result to find any remaining issue rather than treating a successful TPM check as a pass for the whole machine.
Should you buy a TPM module or replace the motherboard?
Do not buy a generic TPM module as a first step. ASUS warns that discrete modules can be incompatible with a board and cannot resolve every motherboard or processor compatibility problem. First establish whether the existing system has a supported firmware TPM option and identify the specific reason, if any, that PC Health Check reports the PC as incompatible.
If you are choosing a motherboard for a new build or model-specific replacement, compare the exact board and revision, supported CPU, chipset/platform, current BIOS/UEFI version, TPM 2.0 implementation, and UEFI/Secure Boot support. Then verify the assembled system with PC Health Check. There is no basis in the manufacturers’ compatibility guidance for ranking ASUS, BIOSTAR, GIGABYTE, or MSI overall for Windows 11 readiness.
