AST SpaceMobile (ASTS) fell 31.34% over the three-month period through October 2, 2026, and closed at $58.45 that day, according to Quiver Quantitative’s market data. That decline alone does not show the stock is cheap, and the available sources do not establish one cause for the drop. Buying now means accepting significant launch, service-rollout, financing, and valuation uncertainty; waiting means seeking stronger execution evidence, with the risk of missing gains if the company moves faster than expected.
What AST SpaceMobile is trying to build
AST SpaceMobile is developing a low-Earth-orbit satellite constellation intended to let people use cellular service through their existing phones, with service sold through wholesale agreements with mobile network operators. The investment case depends on more than putting satellites in orbit: the company needs to deploy a sufficiently capable constellation, obtain regulatory approvals, activate service, secure and execute commercial agreements, and convert demand into sustainable revenue.
The 31.34% return is Quiver Quantitative’s calculated change over the three-month window ending October 2, 2026; the $58.45 figure is ASTS’s closing price on that final date. Returns can differ with the chosen start date and data provider. The price move is a market statistic, not a company-reported operating result, and it does not by itself identify why the stock fell.

Constellation progress is not the same as service coverage
In its second-quarter 2026 business update, AST SpaceMobile said BlueBird 8–13 had launched and reported 13 spacecraft in orbit. That is evidence of deployment progress, but the count alone does not establish global or continuous coverage, service quality, or the economics of operating the planned network.

The company said it was preparing for beta service in 2026. That is a forward-looking target, not confirmation that beta service had begun or that commercial service would meet any particular schedule or performance level.
A prior launch outcome illustrates execution risk
AST SpaceMobile’s Form 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, says BlueBird 7 was placed into a lower-than-planned orbit on the April 19, 2026 New Glenn 3 mission. A launch and a successful insertion into the intended orbit are distinct milestones; this event shows why investors may want to track deployment outcomes, not just launch counts.

How to read the revenue and contract figures
AST SpaceMobile reported $31.5 million in revenue from commercial and government customers for the second quarter of 2026. It also reported approximately $1.30 billion in aggregate contracted revenue agreements and U.S. government contract awards. These are different measures: quarterly revenue is recognized for that reporting period, while the larger aggregate figure represents agreements and awards, not cash already collected, guaranteed future revenue, or profit. The company’s update does not make that aggregate figure interchangeable with demonstrated operating economics.
For the thesis to strengthen, investors need to see whether service becomes available on a workable timetable, whether carrier and government arrangements translate into delivered service and recognized revenue, and whether the resulting economics can support the cost of building and running the constellation.

What the financing update means—and does not mean
AST SpaceMobile’s second-quarter 2026 update reported that a July 2026 convertible senior notes offering generated $1.150 billion in gross proceeds, with an effective conversion price of $149.20 per share. The proceeds are relevant to funding the buildout, while convertible notes can matter to future dilution depending on their terms and outcome. The conversion price is not a guaranteed floor for the stock, a valuation target, or proof that the shares are worth that amount.
The company’s Form 10-Q identifies financing needs among the material uncertainties facing its business. Investors weighing the offering should consider capital requirements alongside deployment progress, cash use, debt obligations, and the possibility of future share issuance—not treat a single financing transaction as a complete answer to funding risk.

There is no single launch count in the cited company materials that proves the network is ready or that the stock is fairly valued. A useful decision rule is to write down which evidence would change your view—such as successful deployment, a demonstrated service milestone, or revenue conversion—and decide whether you are willing to own the shares before that evidence appears. AST SpaceMobile’s Form 10-Q also identifies regulatory approvals, customer demand, commercial agreements, competition, and execution as risks; progress on launches would not settle all of them.

Why the stock fell—and what the evidence can support
The cited market data establishes the three-month decline, but it does not establish its cause. The company’s disclosures identify risks that investors may weigh, including launch and deployment execution, regulatory approvals, financing, demand, competition, and commercial arrangements. Those are relevant considerations, not verified explanations for the specific share-price move.
