Choose Assetto Corsa if you play on PC and want detailed car setup, telemetry and the option to customize the game with mods. Choose Forza Motorsport if you play on Xbox Series X|S or PC and want a contemporary racing game with structured multiplayer formats and ongoing updates. Neither recommendation proves one game has better physics or more active online racing; the available official materials do not make that comparison.
The practical choice depends on your platform, how much you want to adjust before a race, whether PC modding matters, and what kind of online events you want.
Which game fits your platform?
Check the version you can actually play before weighing features. The games’ product pages and announcements refer to different platforms and editions.

Forza Motorsport is a different title from the Forza Horizon series. Likewise, this comparison concerns the original Assetto Corsa—not Assetto Corsa Competizione or Assetto Corsa EVO.

How much driving setup and detail do you want?
Assetto Corsa emphasizes tuning and driving information
Assetto Corsa’s Steam description highlights physics systems, tire behavior, telemetry, adjustable vehicle setups and configurable driving assists. It lists four assist profiles—gamer, racer, pro and customizable—and describes single-player, multiplayer and customizable race weekends.
Those features point to a game for players who want to adjust the car and inspect driving data, but they do not establish that its physics are objectively better than Forza’s. They describe the product’s design emphasis, not a head-to-head test.

Forza’s cited materials do not support a physics ranking
Microsoft’s product listing and the game’s Update 20 notes document multiplayer features, as well as improvements to AI and racing-wheel features. They do not provide a comparable account of Forza’s setup depth or a direct physics comparison. If detailed tuning is your deciding factor, compare the options available in the exact version you plan to play rather than treating the available notes as a verdict.

Do you want mods or other customization?
For PC players, Assetto Corsa has the clearer case: its Steam description explicitly discusses modding and customization. Keep that claim tied to the PC listing; the cited material does not establish equivalent mod support for the console editions.

What kind of multiplayer do you want?
Assetto Corsa: online racing and customizable race weekends
Assetto Corsa’s Steam description includes online multiplayer and customizable race weekends. It identifies those features, but does not establish how many people are playing online now or how easy it is to find a race.
Forza Motorsport: named meetup formats and continued updates
Forza’s product listing describes multiplayer, while Update 20 adds or describes Open Track Day and Drift Meetups. The Update 20 rollout began May 5, 2025 on Xbox Series X|S and PC via Microsoft Store and Steam. That is a dated update, not evidence that it is the latest release state in 2026.

Choose Forza if those documented event formats and the update-supported experience appeal to you. The cited materials do not establish current participation levels for either game, so they cannot tell you which has the healthier player base.

Assetto Corsa’s Steam listing says it supports a range of input devices, including keyboards, gamepads and steering wheels, and mentions Oculus and OpenVR/VIVE compatibility. The product description’s broad compatibility claim is not a guarantee that every device or operating system works today.

Forza Motorsport’s Update 20 notes mention improvements to racing-wheel features. That does not confirm compatibility for every wheel model. A wheel is optional, not a stated requirement for either game; check the exact wheel and platform before buying or connecting one.

- Pick Assetto Corsa on PC if modding, telemetry and adjustable car setup are priorities.
- Pick Forza Motorsport if you play on Xbox Series X|S or PC and prefer its documented multiplayer meetups and ongoing update model.
- Check the edition first if you are considering Assetto Corsa on console; the cited Ultimate Edition announcement covers PS4 and Xbox One, not current stock or newer-console support.
- Verify your equipment against the exact platform and wheel model. Neither game’s cited materials make every-device compatibility a safe assumption.
