What ASRock announced
On September 19, 2025, HotHardware reported that AMD had added a product page for the non-XT Radeon RX 7700 and that ASRock had revealed the first board-partner implementation, its Challenger card. The announcement-era “first” describes the first partner model reported at that time; it does not establish that ASRock remains the only maker or that no other partner card is available now. Why the PSU recommendations differ
ASRock lists a 650W recommended PSU for its RX7700 CL 16G. AMD’s generic RX 7700 page gives a minimum of 700W and specifies 12V output above 54A; AMD also says power needs depend on the configured system. These are distinct manufacturer recommendations, not interchangeable measurements. A system’s CPU, other components, and power supply quality affect suitability, so do not assume the lower figure overrides AMD’s guidance. Check the requirements for the exact card and the rest of the PC before buying.
What to check before buying
- Fit: The card measures 267 × 130 × 51 mm. Confirm case clearance for its length, height, and thickness.
- Power: It uses two 8-pin power connectors. Confirm that the PSU has the required connectors and meets the guidance for your full system.
- Displays: The Challenger provides three DisplayPort 2.1 ports and one HDMI 2.1 port. Check these against your monitor connections.
- Local availability: ASRock warns that the model may not be sold worldwide and advises checking with a local dealer. The cited sources do not establish current stock or price.
What these specifications do—and do not—say about performance
AMD positions the RX 7700 as a desktop GPU for 1440p gaming and streaming. That is product positioning, not proof of a particular frame rate in a specific game or a guarantee that every system will perform alike. The cited material does not provide independent, comparable benchmark results for this ASRock card. Memory capacity, interface width, and clock figures alone are not enough to establish that it is faster than another GPU; a meaningful comparison needs results measured at matching resolution, settings, games, and driver conditions.
