The ASRock Rack AMPONED8-2T/BCM is a CEB-format server motherboard for AmpereOne processors, including a board-manual reference to the AmpereOne A192-32X. It stands out for six PCIe 5.0 x16 slots, dual 10GbE and IPMI, but it is not a drop-in desktop build: confirm CPU support and BIOS, RDIMM memory, case mounting, socket-compatible cooling and front-to-back airflow before buying.
What the AMPONED8-2T/BCM offers
ASRock Rack specifies the AMPONED8-2T/BCM for the AmpereOne family in a 12 × 10.5-inch (305 × 267 mm) CEB layout. Its expansion and onboard I/O are aimed at dense server or accelerator builds rather than a typical desktop configuration.
| Feature | Specification |
|---|---|
| Form factor | CEB; 12 × 10.5 inches (305 × 267 mm), per ASRock Rack |
| Memory | 8 DIMM slots; RDIMM and RDIMM-3DS support |
| PCIe slots | 6 full-length PCIe 5.0 x16 slots |
| Other expansion | 2 MCIO PCIe 5.0 x8 connectors; 1 M.2 PCIe 5.0 x4 slot |
| Networking | 2 RJ45 10GbE ports via Broadcom BCM57416 |
| Management | IPMI remote management |
These counts establish the connectors available, but not a complete lane-sharing map or the bandwidth available to every device simultaneously. Check the current manual and board documentation against the exact cards, drives and cabling planned. ASRock Rack’s product page is the primary source for current specifications.
Does it support the AmpereOne A192-32X?
The board manual identifies “AmpereOne (R)” and includes processor part number “A192-32X AC-30004,” so the A192-32X appears in the board’s documented BIOS context. That is useful evidence, but buyers should verify the current CPU support list and required minimum BIOS version with ASRock Rack before assembly; support details and manual revisions can change. Consult the manufacturer’s live support information and the ASRock Rack support page.

What to plan for a complete build
Choose memory from the board QVL
The eight DIMM slots support RDIMM and RDIMM-3DS. Select modules by matching the current AMPONED8-2T/BCM memory QVL rather than assuming ordinary desktop UDIMMs will work. The cited specifications establish memory type and slot count, not a particular kit, capacity or operating speed for every configuration. Check the board specifications and memory QVL for the exact modules you intend to use.
Match the cooler to the AmpereOne socket and chassis
Use a cooler explicitly designed for the AmpereOne 5964-pin socket, and verify its height and mounting compatibility with the enclosure. ServeTheHome’s December 23, 2025 review used a Dynatron W23 cooler in its system. That is evidence of a cooler used in that review build, not confirmation of current availability or a blanket compatibility claim for other coolers. Check the cooler maker’s current compatibility details before purchase.
Provide front-to-back airflow
ServeTheHome reviewer Patrick Kennedy observed that the heatsinks beside the CPU socket favor front-to-back airflow rather than air moving from bottom to top. The chassis fan layout should therefore direct air across the board in that direction. The same review reports power reaching 400 W for the fastest 192-core AmpereOne SKU; that figure applies to that highest-power SKU in the review context, not every A192-32X configuration or every workload. Leave appropriate thermal and power-delivery headroom for the processor and the rest of the system. ServeTheHome’s review provides its cooler and airflow observations.

- Supports ATX PSU or 12V DC-in
- mini-ITX (6.7" x 6.7")
- Supports Intel Xeon E-2400 series and Intel Pentium Gold G7400/G7400T processors
- 2 DIMM slots (1DPC), supports DDR5 ECC UDIMM
- 1 PCIe5.0 x16
Confirm case fit beyond the nominal form factor
The board measures 305 × 267 mm and uses CEB mounting. ServeTheHome notes that some ATX cases may have enough physical room for a deeper CEB board, but room alone does not establish fit. Check that the case provides the correct standoff and mounting-hole pattern, board depth, cable clearance, cooler height and airflow path. If the chassis maker does not list CEB support, confirm those details directly rather than relying on the ATX label.
Plan storage and expansion around the actual connectors
The board has one M.2 PCIe 5.0 x4 slot, six full-length PCIe 5.0 x16 slots and two MCIO PCIe 5.0 x8 connectors. Decide which devices need slots, MCIO cabling or the M.2 connection, then verify physical clearance and lane allocation in the current documentation. Dual 10GbE is already onboard; an add-in NIC is only necessary if the build needs additional ports or a different network interface.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to judge whether it fits your use case
- Consider it if the build needs AmpereOne support, substantial PCIe expansion, onboard dual 10GbE and server remote management, and you can use a CEB-compatible chassis with suitable airflow.
- Verify before committing if you have a particular A192-32X CPU, memory kit, cooler or chassis in mind. Check current CPU support and BIOS requirements, the memory QVL, cooler socket compatibility and CEB mounting.
- Look elsewhere if you need a conventional desktop motherboard, standard consumer memory support, or a case that cannot accommodate CEB mounting and front-to-back cooling.
This is a platform-fit assessment, not a performance verdict. The cited materials do not establish benchmark results, current street pricing or current availability, so those should be checked with vendors and independent testing before a purchase decision.
