Verdict: The ASRock Industrial NUC BOX-1360P/D5 is a very small, fan-cooled barebone for buyers who value unusually dense connectivity more than an out-of-the-box PC. Its Core i7-1360P platform, dual 2.5 GbE, USB4/Thunderbolt 4, four-display capability, VESA mounting and flexible M.2/SATA storage make it attractive for compact office, edge and multi-display deployments. You must supply and install memory and storage, and the available review evidence does not establish benchmark performance, noise, thermals or current value.
What you are buying
The NUC BOX-1360P/D5 is a configurable barebone, not a complete ready-to-use computer. ASRock’s system manual specifies an Intel Core i7-1360P with four performance cores and eight efficiency cores. A separately listed NUC BOX-1340P/D5 uses the Core i5-1340P.
Unless a seller explicitly bundles them, plan to add two SO-DIMM memory modules and at least one storage drive, install an operating system, and complete the initial setup yourself. A configured reseller package can change what is included, so check the exact listing.

Use the BOX system limits, not the motherboard page
ASRock also sells a similarly named NUC-1360P/D5 motherboard. That board page lists DDR5-5200 and up to 64 GB, but those figures are not the specifications for this complete NUC BOX system. The BOX documentation and catalog identify DDR5-4800 SO-DIMMs and a 32 GB ceiling (16 GB per slot). Confirm the limit for the exact hardware revision and seller configuration before ordering.

Recommended installation plan
- Install a matched pair of DDR5-4800 SO-DIMMs within the documented 32 GB system limit.
- Fit an M.2 NVMe SSD in the Key M PCIe Gen4 x4 slot. The socket accepts 2242, 2260 or 2280 lengths.
- If you need secondary or bulk storage, use the SATA3 6 Gb/s connection and verify the drive’s mounting hardware and cable arrangement for your revision.
- Install the operating system, update firmware and drivers, then verify memory capacity, link speeds and display outputs.
No particular memory kit or SSD has been tested here, so compatibility should be checked against ASRock’s support information and the seller’s revision details.
Ports and display capability
| Location | Connections |
|---|---|
| Front | USB4/Thunderbolt 4 with DisplayPort output; USB-C with DisplayPort 1.4a output; USB-A; audio combo jack |
| Rear | HDMI 2.0b; DisplayPort 1.4a; two 2.5 GbE ports; two USB-A ports; DC input |
ASRock specifies support for up to four displays, counting the two display-capable Type-C outputs. The manual advises checking ASRock’s Thunderbolt support list, so compatibility with every Thunderbolt peripheral, dock or display combination should not be assumed.

Size, mounting and power
The enclosure measures 117.5 × 110.0 × 47.85 mm and supports both 75 × 75 and 100 × 100 mm VESA patterns. That makes behind-monitor, desk-side and other space-constrained installations practical when the mounting surface can support the system and its cabling.

Rank #3
ITmedia’s hands-on article dated January 25, 2024, measured the bare unit at 543 g without memory or storage and the adapter at 610 g including its cable. Those measurements do not reconcile with the manual’s 1.0 kg net-weight figure because the measurement bases differ; treat them as separate source figures rather than interchangeable specifications.
What the available reviews establish
Ganesh T S published an AnandTech review on July 18, 2023. The accessible conclusion identifies USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 on the Type-C ports as an update over the NUC BOX-1200 and NUCS BOX-13xx/D4 series. The review page was not accessible in full, so benchmark tables and sufficient test context were unavailable.

Consequently, this review cannot responsibly claim a particular application score, sustained performance level, fan-noise result, temperature, power draw under load or price-to-performance advantage. ITmedia’s Japanese headline presents the unit as palm-sized and emphasizes space saving, quietness and low power; those are editorial framing points, not independently verified comparative measurements.
Who should consider it
Good fit
- Office or edge deployments that need two 2.5 GbE links in a very small chassis.
- Workstations or signage systems requiring several display outputs, including USB-C DisplayPort.
- Installations where VESA mounting and a compact footprint matter.
- Buyers comfortable selecting SO-DIMMs and storage rather than accepting a fixed configuration.
- Business deployments that can use the listed vPro and TPM 2.0 capabilities, subject to software and organizational support requirements.
Think twice if
- You want a complete PC that is ready to use immediately.
- You require more than the BOX catalog’s 32 GB memory ceiling.
- You need a verified acoustic, thermal or benchmark target before deployment.
- Your workflow depends on a specific Thunderbolt dock or display chain that is not confirmed on ASRock’s support list.
Purchase and setup checklist
- Confirm that the listing is the NUC BOX-1360P/D5 system, not the similarly named NUC-1360P/D5 motherboard.
- Verify whether memory, SSD, operating system and mounting hardware are included in the seller’s bundle.
- Choose DDR5-4800 SO-DIMMs within the documented 32 GB system limit.
- Choose an M.2 2242, 2260 or 2280 PCIe Gen4 x4 SSD, with SATA storage only if you have confirmed the physical installation details.
- Check the exact hardware revision and ASRock support lists for Thunderbolt devices, firmware and memory compatibility.
- Allow space and ventilation for a fanned system and keep operation within the documented 0–40 °C range.
- Account for the external 120 W adapter when measuring cabinet, VESA or cable-management space.
Bottom line
The NUC BOX-1360P/D5’s strongest case is its combination of tiny dimensions and workstation-style I/O: dual 2.5 GbE, USB4/Thunderbolt 4, multiple DisplayPort paths and support for up to four displays. It is best approached as a configurable infrastructure component. Buy it when that connectivity and mounting flexibility solve a real space or deployment problem; do not buy it expecting this evidence to prove a particular speed, noise level or value ranking.
