Toddler Time P.L.A.Y. is part of Arlington ISD’s Early Childhood Parent & Family Support program. The district invites families with children from birth to age three; pregnant women are welcome, and four- and five-year-olds may attend if they are not enrolled in school. Arlington ISD expands P.L.A.Y. as “Parents and toddlers Learning At home, whY?”
The format is centered on parents and young children learning together. Arlington ISD describes the class as an opportunity for a parent to be the child’s first teacher. Activities include singing, dancing, counting and exploring how young children learn. The district says everyday activities can build early math and reading skills, and that it provides tools families can use to extend learning at home. Related family-support classes address topics such as potty training, temper tantrums and routines.
