Some Pandora jewelry is made of solid 14k or 18k gold, while other gold-colored pieces are gold-plated over a different metal. Pandora also makes jewelry from sterling silver and other materials. The color alone does not tell you whether a piece is solid gold: check that item’s product description and, when applicable, its quality mark.
What “real gold” means for Pandora jewelry
“Real gold” can mean two different constructions. A solid-gold piece is made from a gold alloy throughout; a gold-plated piece has a real gold layer over a different material. Both contain gold, but they are not equivalent in composition or care.

How Pandora gold-plated jewelry is constructed
Pandora’s US guide says its described gold-plated pieces are not solid gold: they have 14k gold plating over a different metal blend, with palladium used as a barrier between the core and the plating. The specific base material can depend on the design. Read the product’s own material description rather than assuming that all gold-colored Pandora pieces have the same core. How to check a specific piece
Start with the product description
Look for wording that identifies the item as solid 14k or 18k gold, or as gold-plated, and note any stated base material. A gold-colored finish, photograph, or product name by itself does not establish solid-gold construction.

Use the mark as a clue, not proof
Pandora’s US brand-protection guidance says its gold jewelry is stamped with a G followed by purity in parts per thousand: G585 indicates 14k gold, and G750 indicates 18k gold. Pieces manufactured before June 2011 may have numeric-only marks. Pandora also warns that copies can carry similar identifiers, so a stamp alone cannot authenticate a piece. What the difference means for wear and care
Pandora says the color of gold-plated jewelry may fade or change over time. Its care guidance recommends removing jewelry before sleeping, showering or bathing, swimming, and exercising. It also recommends storing pieces separately to help prevent scratches, patting a cleaned piece dry, and using a Pandora Care Kit; for gold- and rose-gold-plated pieces, Pandora specifies the pink side of its polishing cloth. Recycled sourcing does not mean solid-gold construction
Pandora’s US sustainability page says that since 2024 all its jewelry is made with 100% recycled silver and gold sourced from certified, responsible refiners.
