A BAE Systems Digital Intelligence LinkedIn search-result snippet says the company was seeking neurodivergent women for cybersecurity roles, but the post itself could not be accessed. Its dates, eligibility, vacancies and any connection to GCHQ therefore remain unverified. The available evidence does not show that this is an active recruitment campaign. What is clear is that women remain underrepresented in the UK cyber workforce, and GCHQ publishes guidance on recruitment adjustments for neurodivergent applicants.

What is known about the recruitment claim?

The claim comes from a BAE Systems Digital Intelligence LinkedIn post surfaced in search results. The snippet associates neurodivergent perspectives and problem-solving with security work and says the company was seeking neurodivergent women. Because the post page was inaccessible, its exact wording and practical details cannot be confirmed. The available material also does not establish that GCHQ was recruiting through the same initiative.

There is no verified information here about the campaign’s dates, number or location of roles, eligibility, application route, hiring results or whether it remains open. Treat the post as an indication of a reported recruitment effort, not as a current vacancy announcement. Check each organisation’s own recruitment pages for live roles.

Why representation is part of the story

The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology’s Cyber security skills in the UK labour market 2026 estimates that women made up 16% of the UK cyber security sector workforce, compared with 48% of the UK workforce overall. It estimates women’s share of the sector’s senior workforce at 12%; the report describes senior workers as typically having six or more years of experience.

The same report estimates that neurodivergent people accounted for 22% of the cyber security sector workforce and 19% of its senior workforce. These are estimates, not evidence that a particular recruitment initiative increased representation or that neurodivergence itself causes cybersecurity ability. The report cautions that increased reporting may reflect greater employer awareness and identification rather than an equivalent change in the workforce’s underlying composition.

The report estimates the UK cyber security workforce at 145,900 people as of December 2025, describing that figure as experimental. Ipsos and Perspective Economics conducted the study for DSIT; cyber-business survey fieldwork ran from 8 August to 27 October 2025. The report says its cyber-sector survey estimates are representative because the entire sector was sampled. Its table does not provide comparable neurodiversity estimates for the wider digital sector or UK workforce; displayed 0% comparison cells should not be read as evidence that those populations have no neurodivergent people.

What adjustments can GCHQ applicants request?

GCHQ’s application guidance says applicants with a disability, neurodivergent condition or long-term health condition can request reasonable adjustments at any stage. It gives examples such as extra time, changes to the room setup and changing the colour of printed documents.

Applicants are asked to explain which part of the process disadvantages them and what adjustment could remove that disadvantage. People who are unsure what to request are encouraged to contact GCHQ. The guidance also notes that security protocols may restrict some medical devices and assistive technologies at GCHQ premises. Workplace adjustments involving those devices are discussed after a conditional offer, so applicants should not assume every technology can be used in secure settings.

What cybersecurity career routes do the organisations describe?

GCHQ

GCHQ’s technical careers information describes computer network operations and roles in technology, engineering, research and analysis. It also outlines an 18-month Cyber Specialist Development Programme combining structured learning with real-world experience, which it says may suit people new to cyber who bring curiosity and an interest in technology. These general descriptions do not confirm that any role is connected to the LinkedIn post.

BAE Systems

BAE Systems’ UK inclusion and careers page describes its ambition to create an inclusive workplace and lists graduate opportunities, apprenticeships, internships and work experience. It also refers to employee connection groups and industry inclusion initiatives, including Neurodiversity in Business and Women in Tech. This provides general company context, not proof of a specific partnership or of outcomes from the reported recruitment effort.

How to interpret the available evidence

  • The LinkedIn search snippet supports only a limited claim: BAE Systems Digital Intelligence was reported as seeking neurodivergent women for cybersecurity roles.
  • It does not verify current vacancies, application details, campaign results or a shared GCHQ-BAE Systems initiative.
  • Official careers pages describe general pathways and GCHQ adjustment guidance; use employer recruitment pages to confirm current openings and requirements.
  • Workforce representation estimates provide context, but do not establish the effect of a specific hiring campaign.
