Nexon and Chernin Entertainment, the production company behind A24’s Backrooms, have reportedly agreed to develop film or television projects based on ARC Raiders and THE FINALS. GamesRadar+ reported this on October 5, 2026. The report does not say whether ARC Raiders is getting a movie, a series, or both. It names no writer, director, cast, start of production, release date or distributor.
What has been reported
GamesRadar+ describes a collaboration between Nexon and Chernin Entertainment to develop screen projects across two games, ARC Raiders and THE FINALS. It identifies Nexon as the parent company of Embark, the studio behind both games. The report’s shorthand talks about “TV and movie adaptations” and “film or TV”, but it also leaves unclear which game maps to which format.
Treat this as a development-stage partnership. Nothing in the report confirms that a specific ARC Raiders film or series has been greenlit. The report relies on a press release, and I could not find a separate official project page or a direct Nexon or Chernin announcement.

Söderlund’s “transmedia” wording suggests Embark wants the screen projects tied closely to the games. Neither quote says how, or in what format.
Who Chernin Entertainment is
A24’s official film page lists Backrooms as an A24 and Chernin Entertainment release, with Kane Parsons as director and Will Soodik as writer. That is a verified recent Chernin credit. The headline pairing also points to Chernin’s work on the modern Planet of the Apes films. The sources I relied on do not cover that credit, so treat it as background rather than something this announcement establishes.
Neither credit shows what Chernin’s creative or production role on ARC Raiders will be. Backrooms is a different property from a different team, so its genre and release approach do not predict how an ARC Raiders adaptation will look.

What ARC Raiders is
The official ARC Raiders site describes it as a multiplayer extraction adventure set on a lethal future Earth. Players scavenge a surface threatened by mechanized machines called ARC. The site lists Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and GeForce NOW as platforms. THE FINALS, the other game in the deal, is also from Embark.

Until an official announcement fills these gaps, be wary of any article claiming ARC Raiders is getting both a movie and a series. The reported source does not support that.
