Embark says ARC Raiders is using fuller human performance capture for Celeste, starting with the Frozen Trail update scheduled for October 8, 2026. The change brings the character’s face and expressions closer to those of her voice actor, Diana Gardner. It is not an announcement that the game is removing every AI-generated voice line.
What is changing for Celeste?
In an October 4, 2026 post, Embark Chief Creative Officer Stefan Strandberg said the studio used full motion capture, including a more detailed facial capture, to convey more of Gardner’s performance in Celeste. Embark says Gardner has voiced Celeste since the beginning of ARC Raiders, but the character’s earlier expressive limitations did not fully reflect the depth of her acting.
The studio says Celeste’s in-game face will look more like Gardner and that her real voice and face will match for the first time. The official announcement describes a move toward honoring the actor’s performance, not a wholesale change to every voice-production method in the game.
When does the update arrive?
Embark ties Celeste’s appearance change to Frozen Trail, which the official ARC Raiders site lists as scheduled for October 8, 2026. The studio also said the Frozen Trail trailer due October 6 would be its first use of full motion capture. These are the dates and details announced by Embark; the post does not provide further rollout specifics.

Is ARC Raiders replacing all AI voices with real actors?
No such blanket replacement was announced. Embark’s October post focuses on Celeste’s motion capture, facial likeness and alignment of her appearance with Gardner’s voice. It does not quantify AI-generated dialogue, identify which lines use it, or promise that all such speech will be removed.
For separate earlier context, Dot Esports reported on August 4, 2026, citing an interview with Embark studio head Patrick Söderlund, that the studio had re-recorded some AI-generated lines with human actors and continued to use licensed text-to-speech in selected situations. That report predates the October announcement and should not be read as a line-by-line account of Celeste’s dialogue or as a complete inventory of the game’s voice work.
What does Embark plan for other characters?
Strandberg wrote, “In future updates, we plan to bring more characters in line with their real-world actors.” Embark has not named which characters are next or given a timetable. The announcement establishes an intention, not a schedule or guarantee for specific characters.

Motion capture, recorded dialogue and text-to-speech are distinct parts of production. The Celeste announcement describes capturing more of Gardner’s physical and facial performance and bringing the character’s appearance closer to her actor. It does not establish that this change replaces every voice technology used elsewhere in the game.
Embark’s older sound-design article says most game audio comes from live recordings and describes combining recordings with procedural systems. That is broad audio-production context; it does not specify how Celeste’s earlier dialogue was made.
