The Aqara Thermostat Hub W200 is the better fit if you want a thermostat that also anchors an Aqara smart-home setup; ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium is a strong option if you need support for HVAC accessories and ecobee’s comfort and sensor features. Neither is the right choice until you confirm it works with your heating and cooling system and wiring. The available manufacturer information does not establish that either thermostat is more accurate, reliable, or energy-efficient than the other.

Choose the W200 if its built-in hub matters to you
The W200 combines thermostat control with Aqara smart-home hub functions. Its Zigbee, Matter, and Thread capabilities may be useful if you want one wall device to participate in a broader setup using those standards. Aqara also lists connections to Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings, and Home Assistant.

That feature set is most relevant when it matches devices and services you already use or intend to add. Do not assume that every device, sensor, or function works across every platform: check compatibility for the exact models and features you plan to use.

Choose ecobee Premium if HVAC accessories and comfort features are priorities
ecobee describes Premium as offering humidity-aware comfort features, support for HVAC accessories such as humidifiers, dehumidifiers, HRVs, and ERVs, and open-window alerts that can pause heating or cooling. Check the compatibility checker for your equipment rather than treating a general feature list as confirmation for your particular system.
Some ecobee security functions have additional requirements. The product listing identifies a SmartSensor and a Smart Security subscription as necessary for certain functions, so include those costs and requirements only if you plan to use them.

Check wiring and HVAC compatibility before ordering
Aqara W200
- Use the Aqara W200 compatibility checker and select the wires attached to your thermostat base.
- Do not proceed if the thermostat or system is labeled 110V or 120V; Aqara says the W200 is not compatible with those systems.
- Confirm that your system matches Aqara’s stated 24 VAC input requirement (18–30 VA). If an otherwise compatible setup has no C-wire, Aqara says its separately sold C-Wire Adapter is needed.
ecobee Premium
- Use ecobee’s thermostat compatibility checker for your exact HVAC equipment and wiring.
- Check the result for any accessories you plan to connect, such as a humidifier, dehumidifier, HRV, or ERV.
If you cannot confidently identify your wiring or equipment, contact an HVAC professional before removing or replacing a thermostat. Aqara describes W200 installation as designed for self-installation and says a trim plate is included, but that manufacturer guidance does not confirm that every home’s installation will be straightforward.
Compare total cost, not just thermostat prices
When the official U.S. store pages were accessed, Aqara listed the W200 at $159.99 and its C-Wire Adapter at $29.99; ecobee listed Premium at $209.99 on sale from $259.99. These are time-sensitive listing prices, not guaranteed checkout prices, and may vary by retailer or location.

The W200’s listed price does not include the adapter if your compatible installation needs one. For ecobee, account for any SmartSensor or subscription required for the specific security functions you want.
