Apple announced Siri AI for Apple TV as a beta in tvOS 27.2. It is coming to Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later), so you do not need to buy the newly announced fourth-generation model to qualify. Setup also depends on an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad, and the initial Apple TV rollout is limited to English in eight markets.
What Siri AI brings to Apple TV
Apple describes Siri AI on Apple TV as a conversational way to find and discover shows. Search can fill the screen, while questions asked during playback can produce a compact overlay, letting viewers ask about what they are watching without leaving it.
Apple’s examples include asking which shows won Emmy Awards that year, where Pluribus was filmed, and whether a program is appropriate for a 15-year-old. A viewer could also ask to play a show recommended by someone whose recommendation is accessible through a paired Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone. These are Apple’s illustrative requests and capability descriptions; they are not independently verified test results.

Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, Bob Borchers, said the feature makes finding something to watch “a full-screen, conversational experience,” and said built-in far-field microphones make it hands-free. Those descriptions are Apple’s claims, not an independent assessment of how reliably the beta works in different rooms or with different requests.

Which Apple TV models support Siri AI?
Apple says the Siri AI beta supports Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later). That means the newly announced Apple TV 4K (4th generation) is eligible, but it is not the only eligible model. Apple’s announcement does not extend this compatibility claim to Apple TV HD or earlier Apple TV hardware.
Apple previewed its next generation of Apple Intelligence and Siri AI at WWDC on June 8, 2026. On September 14, Apple said Siri AI had begun rolling out in beta in English, with French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish planned for the following month. The Apple TV announcement on October 13 specifically identifies tvOS 27.2 beta availability and its initial launch markets.

What you need to use it
Apple TV compatibility alone is not sufficient. Apple says the Home owner must have an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad running the latest software, with Siri AI turned on and set to a supported language. Personal-context requests—such as acting on a recommendation available through a person’s device—also require a paired Apple Intelligence-enabled device with Siri AI enabled and set to a supported language.

Apple calls the Apple TV feature a beta, so behavior and availability may change. The announcement does not give a detailed menu-by-menu setup procedure; check Apple’s current instructions and software updates for the steps applicable to your devices.

Initial language and country availability
For the Apple TV beta announcement, Apple lists English in the United States, Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, and the United Kingdom. This is an eight-market launch description, not a statement of worldwide availability. Apple also cautions that some features may not be available in every region or language. The other languages Apple discussed for Siri AI in September were planned for the following month; that announcement alone does not establish Apple TV availability for them.
Should you buy the new Apple TV 4K?
Buy or upgrade for the new hardware only if its other features appeal to you: Apple says Siri AI beta is also available on Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later). First check which generation you already own and whether your iPhone or iPad meets the companion-device requirements. If both conditions are met, the beta announcement does not make a new box necessary.

Prices and availability above are Apple’s announced US terms as of October 13, 2026; they can change and may differ elsewhere. Apple says the fourth-generation model uses an A19 chip and claims up to 50 percent faster CPU performance and up to 2x faster GPU performance than the previous generation. These are Apple’s manufacturer comparisons, not independent benchmark measurements. Apple also says the A19 includes a dedicated AV1 decoder.
Optional audio features are not Siri AI requirements
Apple says the fourth-generation Apple TV can create a four-speaker surround setup with HomePod mini 2, or with HomePod (2nd generation) when the front and rear pairs match. Those speakers are optional and do not appear in Apple’s minimum Siri AI compatibility requirements. Apple also says its new Siri Remote is sold separately and works with Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K; it is not required to unlock Siri AI.
