Apple has not announced the rumored devices or their prices. Reporting published October 8–9, 2026, says the company may introduce OLED touchscreen MacBook Pro models and an OLED iPad mini around October 27. Separately, MacRumors reported that Apple’s U.S. online-store prices for the current iPad mini and MacBook Pro rose in June. That earlier increase does not tell us what any future OLED model will cost.
What the reports say about the MacBook Pro and iPad mini
On October 8, MacRumors, citing Bloomberg, reported that Apple could introduce OLED touchscreen MacBook Pro models and an OLED iPad mini “on or around” October 27. Tom’s Guide made a similar report on October 9, attributing the expected timing and lighter touchscreen MacBooks to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman. October 27 is reported timing, not a confirmed event or shipping date.
The MacRumors account described 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models that would be thinner and lighter, with OLED displays, touch capability and Dynamic Island. It also mentioned an M6 14-inch MacBook Pro and an M6 iMac in the possible launch lineup. These are reported plans, not Apple-confirmed specifications or products. MacRumors, October 8, 2026; Tom’s Guide, October 9, 2026.

Is it a MacBook Ultra?
Earlier coverage speculated about a higher-priced “MacBook Ultra,” but that name is not confirmed. The October reporting describes the touchscreen notebooks as MacBook Pro models; neither a new product name nor a price increase for those rumored models has been established. MacRumors, March 2026

Apple’s statement reproduced by MacRumors in connection with the June changes was: “We have shielded our customers from these increases so far, but we have now reached a point where we need to begin raising prices on a number of products, including today’s increases for iPad and Mac.” That statement addresses those increases; it does not set prices for rumored products. Should you buy now or wait?
Consider the current iPad mini if you need a tablet now
If the current iPad mini meets your needs and you have a reason to buy now, compare its actual price and availability with your budget. The reported OLED model has no confirmed name, release date, starting price or retail availability. Waiting may reveal more, but the report alone does not guarantee a launch around October 27.

Consider waiting for more information if OLED is important
If an OLED screen is a deciding factor, wait for an official announcement and confirmed retailer listings before treating the rumored model as a purchase option. Until then, the current iPad mini and the reported OLED refresh are different choices: one is a listed product, while the other remains unannounced in the sources cited here.
Apply the same test to a MacBook Pro
Buy a current MacBook Pro if its available configuration, price and delivery timing suit your needs. If touch input or OLED is essential, waiting for Apple to confirm the product and its details avoids basing a purchase decision on specifications and timing that remain reports. The June price reported for the current MacBook Pro should not be used as a forecast for a rumored touchscreen model.
