Apple HomeView is being reported as a dedicated smart-home display and hub priced at ₹39,900 in India, with sales expected to begin November 13, 2026. The “iPad and HomePod had a baby” description captures its screen-plus-speaker design, but HomeView is not an iPad and should not be treated as an iPad running iPadOS. India Today and MacRumors reported the product and pricing on October 13; an Apple product announcement or product page was not available in the Apple India Newsroom archive consulted for this coverage.
What Apple HomeView is
Reporting describes HomeView as a purpose-built Apple smart-home hub: a display for shared household information and controls, integrated with a speaker base for audio and voice interaction. It is designed for a tabletop setup, while a wall-mounted configuration has also been reported. That makes it closer to a permanent home control panel than to a portable tablet.
The headline comparison is therefore a metaphor. HomeView may combine some functions people associate with an iPad and a HomePod, but the available reports do not establish that it uses iPadOS, supports the full iPad app catalog, or is simply a tablet placed on a speaker.

Speaker, voice and video calling
The speaker base is intended to make HomeView an always-available household audio and voice device. India Today reported an upgraded Siri AI, video calling and personalized household experiences. Smart-home control
HomeView is reported to control compatible smart-home devices from a shared screen. The practical value depends on which standards and accessories Apple supports at launch; the available reports do not establish a complete compatibility list. Four color options were reported, although individual colors and regional availability have not been confirmed by Apple.
How HomeView differs from an iPad
- Purpose: HomeView is reported as a fixed household hub, whereas an iPad is a general-purpose portable computer.
- Placement: HomeView has reported tabletop and wall-mounted configurations; an iPad normally requires a case, stand or mount for permanent placement.
- Software flexibility: Prelaunch reporting described a limited selection of Apple apps and no dedicated App Store. Treat that as unconfirmed until Apple publishes final specifications.
- Shared use: A dedicated screen in a common room can be configured for household controls and information rather than one person’s tablet account.
Consequently, an iPad may be the more flexible choice for reading, work, games and travel. HomeView could be more convenient for a fixed control point, speaker and video-call station, but that convenience comes with less-established software flexibility.

Siri and regional limitations
Apple’s September 14, 2026 Siri announcement says AI features vary by region and language, with platform and feature exclusions. Apple has not, in the available material, published HomeView-specific language support or a country-by-country feature matrix. Buyers in India and elsewhere should confirm which Siri capabilities, languages and personalization features are enabled for their region rather than assuming that every advertised Siri function works identically worldwide.
What is known about future accessories
A prelaunch MacRumors report, citing Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, described a planned Apple Home Collection. It named LG and Schneider Electric and mentioned possible categories including smart doorbells, locks, thermostats, temperature sensors and security cameras. This is a report about planned products, not proof that those accessories, partner arrangements, launch dates or compatibility guarantees are already available for purchase.

If you are buying HomeView for automation, verify each accessory’s compatibility and required hub or standard from its final listing. Do not buy on the assumption that every device in the reported collection will launch alongside HomeView.
Who should consider HomeView?
- Good fit: households wanting a dedicated shared screen for smart-home controls, a speaker, video calls and Siri in one fixed location.
- Potentially poor fit: buyers who need a full tablet app library, cellular portability, extensive gaming or a device that doubles as a personal computer.
- Wait for confirmation: anyone making a purchase decision based on specific apps, Siri languages, camera hardware, smart-home standards or accessory support.
What to check before paying ₹39,900
- Confirm the final Apple India price, tax treatment and the exact sales date on an official store page.
- Check whether your preferred Siri language and AI features are supported in your region.
- Verify the display, camera, speaker and mounting configuration included in the model sold locally.
- Review the supported smart-home standards and required accessories for your existing devices.
- Confirm the app list and whether the final product includes an App Store or another software distribution method.
- Compare the fixed-home experience with the flexibility of an iPad plus a separate speaker before committing.
Bottom line on the reported launch
At a reported ₹39,900, Apple HomeView targets people who want an Apple-branded, always-present smart-home screen rather than another general-purpose tablet. Its reported 7-inch display, speaker base, Siri, video calling and wall-mount option explain the iPad–HomePod comparison, but the product’s real value will depend on final software, regional Siri support and accessory compatibility. Until Apple publishes complete specifications and store listings, treat the price, November 13 date and feature list as reported launch information rather than fully confirmed specifications.
