Apple announced HomeView and its Apple Home Collection on October 13, 2026. HomeView is a shared 7-inch Liquid Retina touchscreen for managing a home, while the collection adds cameras, a doorbell, a smart lock, thermostats, and room sensors. Apple says the collection can be added with a single iPhone tap and managed in Apple Home and Siri without a separate app or account. That simplifies setup, but compatibility, regional availability, installation, and iCloud+ requirements still determine what each device can actually do.
What is Apple HomeView?
HomeView is a tabletop or wall-mounted smart-home screen. Apple describes it as a shared home-management display for entertainment, communication, camera monitoring, voice control, and touch control of connected devices. It recognizes up to six people and personalizes each person’s experience.

From the display or Siri, residents can control lighting, thermostats, locks, blinds, and other supported accessories. Its Home Camera face can show up to nine video feeds at once. Some intelligence features require a paired Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad, and features vary by language and region.

Apple is not offering HomeView for sale in the European Union at announcement because Siri AI is unavailable in iOS there. That regional restriction may change, but buyers should verify local availability before planning an installation.

What accessories work with Apple HomeView?
Apple Home Collection is a defined lineup rather than the entire Apple Home ecosystem. It includes LG cameras and a video doorbell, an LG smart deadbolt, LG and Schneider Electric thermostats, and temperature or room sensors. Apple also says HomeView works with other Works with Apple Home and Matter accessories, so the screen is not limited to this collection.

Can I control my smart home from one app?
For the announced collection, Apple says yes: add each accessory to Apple Home with a single tap on an iPhone, then control it in the Home app or with Siri. Apple says no separate app or account is required for those devices. Every announced collection accessory supports Thread, and Apple says the devices automatically update their network credentials when home Wi-Fi changes.
Apple identifies the thermostats and temperature or room sensors as Matter-compatible. The smart deadbolt supports Matter and Aliro. HomeView can also control compatible third-party Apple Home and Matter accessories, but a single app does not mean every brand exposes the same controls. A Matter device may still need a compatible hub, a particular software release, or a region-specific feature.
Rank #4
- Your favorite music and content – Play music, audiobooks, and podcasts from Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify and others or via Bluetooth throughout your home.
- Alexa is happy to help – Ask Alexa for weather updates and to set hands-free timers, get answers to your questions and even hear jokes. Need a few extra minutes in the morning? Just tap your Echo Dot to snooze your alarm.
- Keep your home comfortable – Control compatible smart home devices with your voice and routines triggered by built-in motion or indoor temperature sensors. Create routines to automatically turn on lights when you walk into a room, or start a fan if the inside temperature goes above your comfort zone.
- Do more with device pairing – Fill your home with music using compatible Echo devices in different rooms, or create a home theatre system with Fire TV.
- Say goodbye to drop-offs and buffering - With eero Built-in, Echo Dot doubles as a mesh wifi extender, adding up to 1,000 sq. ft. of wifi coverage to your existing eero network.
What the accessories do
- Cameras and doorbell: Apple describes wired video doorbell, floodlight, outdoor plug-in, and indoor plug-in models. They capture up to 2.5K video and can recognize people, familiar faces, pets, vehicles, and packages. The indoor camera is described as tilting away when the first household member returns.
- Smart deadbolt: Ultra Wideband can unlock the door as someone approaches with a compatible home key. The lock also supports iPhone or Apple Watch tap-to-unlock, a PIN pad, a backup key slot, guest access, and sensing for opening, closing, or tampering.
- Thermostats and sensors: LG and Schneider Electric thermostats can adapt temperature based on whether people are home, winding down, or away. Apple’s Clean Energy Guidance is specifically described for compatible utility plans in the contiguous United States.
How to plan a HomeView setup
- Confirm the launch region. Check whether HomeView and the specific accessory are sold where you live. HomeView’s initial markets and the collection’s markets differ.
- Choose the control point. Decide between tabletop HomeView and the wall-mounted model. For a wall installation, include the appropriate Schneider Home mount and power method.
- Check Apple hardware and software. Setup and multiuser support require a compatible iPhone or iPad running the latest software. AI-dependent functions require an Apple Intelligence-enabled device.
- Check network standards. Verify Thread, Matter, Apple Home, hub, and local-network requirements for every accessory rather than assuming all features are interchangeable.
- Match the device to the location. Confirm HVAC compatibility for thermostats, door and deadbolt fit, indoor or outdoor camera placement, wiring, outlets, and Wi-Fi coverage.
- Add accessories in Apple Home. Use the iPhone tap-based setup Apple describes, then assign rooms, household members, permissions, and automations in the Home app.
- Decide whether you need professional installation. Apple Retail says third-party installation from ADT will be available for an additional charge in the U.S. starting in fall 2026; Apple has not announced installation pricing.
Do I need an iCloud+ subscription?
Basic control is presented as an Apple Home function, but certain camera capabilities depend on iCloud+. Apple says encrypted camera recordings can remain in iCloud for 10 days. Its stated camera limits are one camera with a 50GB plan, up to five with a 200GB plan, and an unlimited number with a 2TB plan. Apple also says video descriptions and natural-language search require an eligible iCloud+ plan and an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad for setup. Plan limits and supported features may change.
Apple says Home app data and camera footage are end-to-end encrypted and inaccessible to Apple, LG Electronics, or Schneider Electric. These are Apple’s stated privacy properties, not independent security-test results.

What to verify before buying
- Whether the product is actually available in your country and on the announced date.
- Whether your door, HVAC system, wiring, power source, and network support the selected accessory.
- Whether a hub, Thread border router, compatible iPhone or iPad, or current software is required.
- Which camera history, recognition, search, or intelligence features require iCloud+.
- Whether Siri language support applies to your region. Apple lists English support in the U.S., Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, and the United Kingdom; Canadian French is planned through a free update.
- Whether household sharing, guest access, local operation, and automations meet your needs.
When will Apple HomeView and its accessories be available?
HomeView starts November 13, 2026, in Apple’s announced launch markets. Apple Home Collection availability begins in December 2026, with select accessories starting in early 2027. Because these are October 13 announcement schedules, confirm final stock, local pricing, and shipping dates before ordering.
The Bottom Line
HomeView offers a single Apple interface for the announced collection and compatible Apple Home or Matter devices, but it is not a guarantee of universal compatibility. Verify regional availability, installation fit, standards, software, and iCloud+ requirements before committing to the system.
