Anthropic’s expanded Claude Startups program offers approved startups one year of Claude Team for up to five Premium seats, plus a one-time $1,000 credit for the Claude API. Startups can also access third-party software offers and virtual office hours, but the Team offer has eligibility limits, API credits expire after six months, and acceptance is not guaranteed.
What the Claude Startups offer includes
Anthropic announced the program expansion on October 6, 2026. The standard package for an approved startup combines these benefits:

- Claude Team: one year for up to five Premium seats, only if the organization is new to Claude Team.
- Claude API: a one-time $1,000 credit for use with Anthropic’s first-party API.
- Claude Startup Stack: access to offers from third-party companies, subject to each provider’s terms and availability.
- Startup support and events: virtual office hours with Anthropic’s Applied AI team and opportunities such as Founder House, hackathons, and meetups.
Anthropic estimates the Team year at $6,000 when calculated as five Premium seats at $100 per seat per month, billed annually. Adding the $1,000 API credit produces its advertised estimate of up to $7,000 in Anthropic products and credits. The value changes with the number and type of seats a startup uses.

Who can apply, and what do you need?
As of October 7, 2026, Anthropic’s program page says applicants must be startups founded within the last five years or funded within the last two years. Bootstrapped, pre-seed, and venture-backed startups may apply; VC funding is not required.

Applicants need a Claude Console account, a company email address that matches the company website’s domain, and a short description of what they are building. Anthropic also requires applicants to comply with its supportability policies. Meeting the published criteria does not guarantee acceptance: Anthropic’s official terms give it discretion to assess eligibility and select participants.
How to apply and claim the benefits
- Create or sign in to a Claude Console account and prepare a company email address using the domain on the company website.
- Apply through the Claude Startups program page. Provide the requested company information and a short description of the product or service you are building.
- Wait for Anthropic’s decision. Its FAQ says applications are usually decided within minutes; applications sent for manual review usually take two to three business days.
- If accepted, follow the email link to claim the Team offer through the Claude Startups page in Claude Console.
- Claim the API credit in Claude Console. The six-month expiration period starts when Anthropic grants the credit.
How the API credit works—and where it does not work
The $1,000 award is a credit, not a cash payment. Anthropic says it applies to the first-party Claude API and cannot be used through AWS Bedrock, Google Cloud Vertex AI, or other third-party platforms. Because it expires six months after it is granted, startups should consider whether their expected API usage can use the credit within that period.
What the $45,000 Startup Stack figure means
Anthropic advertises a combined maximum value of up to $45,000 for offers in the Claude Startup Stack. That estimate uses partner list prices as of September 2026; it is not cash, a guaranteed benefit, or an amount every accepted startup can redeem. The value depends on the offers a company can access and use, its plans, and its team size. Anthropic says startups may not qualify for or be able to combine every offer. The offers come from independent third parties and are governed by their terms.
Examples on the current offer page include 25% off the first year of Gamma Pro annual, three months of Granola Business free for up to 10 seats, and six months free on Hex’s Enterprise plan. Check the current offers and redemption conditions in Claude Console, since availability can change.
Can a startup get more than $1,000 in API credits?
Potentially, but through a separate route: Anthropic says startups backed by a VC in its partner network may be able to obtain up to $100,000 in additional API credits through that VC. This is conditional on the investor relationship and is not part of the standard Claude Startups award.

- Team eligibility: the free year is limited to organizations new to Claude Team and covers up to five Premium seats.
- Product fit: the API credit is useful only if the startup can use Anthropic’s first-party Claude API; it does not cover API usage through the named third-party platforms.
- Credit timing: plan around the six-month expiration period measured from the grant date.
- Partner offers: value only the offers the company can actually qualify for and redeem under the providers’ current terms.
- Program terms: Anthropic’s official terms page, last updated May 22, 2025, reserves discretion over eligibility and selection, allows program changes, and says recipients are responsible for taxes related to API credits.
