As of October 3, 2026, police were pursuing Sujal, a Sonipat resident suspected of arranging weapons and a motorcycle for two accused shooters in the killing of singer and YouTuber Ankit Baliyan. Investigators had not established who allegedly directed Sujal or where the items came from, according to Hindustan Times. These remain police allegations, not findings of guilt by a court.
Who is Sujal, and what do police allege?
Hindustan Times reported on October 3, 2026, that police were seeking Sujal, a Sonipat resident, over an alleged role in providing weapons and a motorcycle to the two men accused of shooting Baliyan. Police said his name surfaced after they arrested another Sonipat resident, Rohit alias Ladla. Investigators were examining the relationship between the two and the extent of each person’s alleged involvement.
Shamli Superintendent of Police Narendra Pratap Singh told Hindustan Times: “Sujal’s arrest is being actively pursued. His questioning is expected to shed light on the conspiracy, procurement of weapons and vehicle, and the links between the accused.” The statement describes what police hoped to learn; it does not establish that Sujal committed a crime.
What happened to Ankit Baliyan?
According to the October 3 report, Baliyan, a 32-year-old Haryanvi singer and YouTuber, was shot on August 26, 2026, near Verma Market on Nala Patri in the Kotwali area of Shamli. He was returning from a gym. Police reviewed local CCTV footage and formed teams to identify the shooters and their associates.

Who were the accused shooters?
Police identified the two accused shooters as Mohit, 22, and Sumit, 24. Hindustan Times reported that each had a police-announced reward of ₹50,000. Police said both men were injured in an exchange of fire on August 31 and later died during treatment. The encounter account and the men’s alleged roles are reported police claims; neither should be described as a court finding.
What is known about the alleged motive and wider plan?
Earlier reporting attributed to police a theory that a song associated with Baliyan and a wider gang network were connected to the alleged motive. The Times of India quoted Uttar Pradesh DGP Rajeev Krishna as saying: “The investigation has revealed that before the murder, information about Ankit Baliyan’s activities was collected. It has also emerged that weapons were provided to the shooters from outside and four assailants executed the crime in a planned manner.” That is the DGP’s account of what investigators had indicated at the time, not an independently established account of motive or responsibility.
The Indian Express reported that the song had 54 million YouTube views, citing the police context. That figure describes reported views; it does not show public opinion or prove a connection to the killing.

What is the status of the investigation?
Hindustan Times reported that Rohit alias Ladla had been arrested two days before its October 3 story. That places the arrest around October 1 by inference from the report’s wording, rather than by a separately confirmed date. At the time of the October 3 report, police were still pursuing Sujal and trying to determine who instructed him, where the weapons and motorcycle were procured, and how far the alleged roles of Sujal and Rohit extended.
The latest cited account does not resolve those questions or report a court judgment establishing guilt for Sujal or the other alleged associates. The case status here is current only to the October 3, 2026 Hindustan Times report.
