What the Boom 2’s 60 W and 80 W ratings mean
The headline 80 W figure is the maximum, not the speaker’s standard output. Soundcore’s FAQ says the Boom 2 delivers 60 W normally and reaches up to 80 W when BassUp 2.0 is enabled. That distinction matters if you expect the speaker to deliver its maximum output in every listening mode. Soundcore’s product page lists the 80 W maximum, while its FAQ explains the two modes.
Soundcore lists a built-in woofer and two tweeters. Its product page also advertises RGB lighting, a built-in power bank, TWS pairing and Auracast multi-speaker capability. These are useful features for outdoor listening, though they do not establish how the speaker compares in sound quality with specific competing models.
How good does the Boom 2 sound?
TechRadar gives the Boom 2 3.5/5 in its speaker roundups. Its assessment is that the speaker delivers solid bass for the price, but its sound quality cannot match similarly priced rivals. That is an editorial assessment, not an independent measurement presented here, and it points to the main trade-off: bass-forward outdoor use is a stronger fit than buyers seeking the best-balanced sound in its price class. Soundcore claims up to 24 hours of playtime, but only under specified conditions: 50% volume, with BassUp and light effects switched off. The company says actual playback varies with content, custom EQ and volume. Treat 24 hours as a best-case manufacturer figure, not a guarantee for loud listening with bass boost and lighting enabled; no independent runtime measurement is established here. Is the Boom 2 waterproof, and does it float?
Soundcore rates the Boom 2 IPX7 and describes it as floatable. The company’s FAQ instructs users to seal the waterproof cover tightly before submerging the speaker. These are manufacturer claims; do not infer dust protection from the IPX7 rating, which does not specify a dust-resistance rating. For the exact handling instruction, refer to the official FAQ.

Portability, connections and charging
Soundcore lists the Boom 2 at 3.7 lb. That is portable enough to carry between outdoor spots, but it is not an ultra-light speaker. Bluetooth is the core connection: the FAQ says there is no AUX jack. It also notes a microphone, while the product page lists TWS and Auracast for multi-speaker use. Soundcore specifies a 5 W charging output for the built-in power bank.

Who should buy the Soundcore Boom 2?
- Consider it if bass, an outdoor-friendly design, floatability and built-in party features matter more than top-tier sound refinement.
- Look elsewhere if you need an AUX input or place balanced sound quality above bass impact; TechRadar’s assessment flags sound quality as a weakness against similarly priced rivals.
- Check the live price in your region before deciding. Soundcore’s US page showed $139.99 when indexed, but that is not a current universal price or a guarantee of stock.
