Anker’s Nebula X1 (model D2351) is a mains-powered 4K triple-laser projector designed to move between rooms and other viewing spots. Its standout feature is a liquid-cooling system that Anker says improves heat dissipation by 15%, reduces size by 30%, and keeps noise to 26 dB. Those figures are manufacturer claims, not independently verified results. “Indoor-outdoor” describes where you might use the movable projector; it is not battery-powered or established as weatherproof.
What the Nebula X1 is—and what “indoor-outdoor” means
The X1 combines a 3840 × 2160 image with a triple RGB laser light source and Google TV. Anker lists it at 6.2 kg and specifies an external power adapter. Tom’s Guide reported that the projector has no internal battery, so outdoor use still requires access to power. Neither the manufacturer specifications cited here nor the review establishes a weather-resistance rating.
That makes “indoor-outdoor” a description of flexible placement, not cordless operation or all-weather use. A patio, garage, or backyard setup needs a suitable power source and conditions that protect the projector from rain and other exposure.

What Anker says liquid cooling changes
Anker calls the X1’s liquid-cooling design an industry first and says it improves heat dissipation by 15%, reduces projector size by 30%, and lowers noise to 26 dB. These are vendor claims; the product page does not provide a test method or independent validation for the comparisons. They explain the intended benefit of the cooling system, but should not be read as results from a controlled third-party test.

The brightness and image-size figures are published specifications, not a promise of daylight visibility at every screen size. Ambient light, screen choice, placement, and power access all matter for an outdoor setup.
How the gimbal and automatic setup work
The projector has a built-in 25-degree auto micro gimbal. Anker also lists autofocus, auto keystone correction, auto screen fit, and obstacle avoidance. These features are intended to simplify aiming and image adjustment, but they do not eliminate every placement constraint.

- From Anker — Trusted by 80 Million+ Users Worldwide Engineered by Anker, the world’s #1 charging brand, Nebula products are designed to deliver reliable performance across a range of home and outdoor viewing scenarios.
Tom’s Guide’s reviewer found that the gimbal could not aim downward and used digital keystone correction in that review setup. That is a reviewer observation, not a complete account of every possible placement. Anker Japan identifies a separate compatible gimbal stand for ceiling projection; the stand is an accessory, not a feature of the built-in gimbal.
Outdoor use: power, light, and protection
- Plan for mains power. The external adapter and lack of an internal battery mean the X1 is movable, but not truly cordless.
- Choose the viewing time and location carefully. The sources cited here do not establish that its rated brightness is sufficient for daylight viewing. Less ambient light generally makes projection easier to see, so do not assume an outdoor image will remain clear in bright conditions.
- Keep the projector protected. No weatherproof rating is established by the product page or review. Do not treat the X1 as rain-resistant or leave it exposed to the elements.
- Allow room for placement and setup. The 0.9:1–1.5:1 throw ratio and automatic adjustments offer flexibility, but the reviewer’s downward-aiming observation is worth considering when choosing a stand or surface.
A community question asks whether the X1 can handle daylight, but that question is not a performance test. The cited sources do not establish a reliable daylight-use threshold.

What comes in the box, and what costs extra
Anker’s product page describes an accessory pack separate from the standard box. It includes a carry case, two wireless satellite speakers, and two wireless microphones. Confirm the package for your region and seller before buying; do not assume these items are included with every X1.
Tom’s Guide reported a US launch date of May 21, 2025, with a review-period MSRP of $2,999 for the projector and $999 for the accessory pack. Those are historical launch/review-period prices, not current offers. Anker’s product page may show changing promotions, so check the current listing and exact package before purchase.

Who should consider the Nebula X1?
The X1 is most relevant to buyers who want a high-resolution laser projector that can be moved between indoor spaces and occasional outdoor viewing locations, and who can provide external power. Its automatic setup features and optional speaker-and-microphone pack may suit flexible entertainment setups. Buyers who need battery operation, verified weather protection, or established daylight performance should not infer those capabilities from the “indoor-outdoor” positioning.
For the current manufacturer specification and package details, see the Soundcore / Anker Nebula X1 product page. Anker Japan lists the compatible gimbal stand for ceiling projection. Tom’s Guide’s Nebula X1 review provides the dated launch pricing and reviewer observations.
