Andy Haas’s Haasoscope Pro is an open-hardware, USB-connected oscilloscope specified for up to 2 GHz analog bandwidth—but only with its input set to 50 Ω. At 1 MΩ, the published bandwidth is 800 MHz. Its maximum stated sample rate also depends on whether one or two channels are active, so the headline figures need to be read alongside the instrument’s input and host setup.

What the Haasoscope Pro is

The Haasoscope Pro is a two-input oscilloscope designed by Andy Haas. It connects to a computer over USB and uses desktop software rather than operating as a standalone bench instrument. The project publishes materials for the hardware, FPGA firmware, and software, allowing users to inspect or modify the design.

That openness is useful for learning, adapting the instrument, and reviewing how it is built. It does not, on its own, verify the published measurement specifications. The figures below are product and project documentation claims; the reviewed material does not establish independent bench-test results or measured effective resolution.

How to interpret the 2 GHz bandwidth claim

Crowd Supply lists 2 GHz analog bandwidth when the input is configured for 50 Ω, and 800 MHz at 1 MΩ. Those are different input configurations, not interchangeable ways to quote one bandwidth figure. Before connecting a signal, match the scope’s impedance setting to the source and measurement setup; impedance affects both loading and signal level.

The product page lists two input choices: 50 Ω with input capacitance below 1 pF, or 1 MΩ at 10 pF. Published input ranges are ±5 V at 50 Ω and ±3 V at 1 MΩ. With an x10 probe, the page lists a range of ±30 V. These are documented product limits, not a reason to assume every probe and signal combination is safe. Check the manual, probe rating, coupling, and selected input configuration before measuring.

The Pro-be active probe is a separate accessory

The dedicated Pro-be active probe is specified as DC–2 GHz, with x10 attenuation, 1 MΩ input resistance, 1.1 pF input capacitance, and a 50 Ω SMA output. Its specifications belong to the probe, not to every probe that can be connected to the scope. Confirm the probe’s limits and the complete signal path before using it.

Sample rate, channels, and record depth

The published real-time sample rate is 3.2 GS/s with one channel active and 1.6 GS/s with two channels active. Do not read 3.2 GS/s as the rate available on each channel in a two-channel measurement. The product page also describes expanding the setup by combining units, but a particular multi-unit configuration should be checked against its documentation rather than assumed to preserve a stated rate on every channel.

The listed record depth is up to 40k samples per trigger. The product page also specifies 12-bit real-time vertical resolution. A nominal bit count describes the instrument’s advertised digitization resolution; it does not establish noise-free performance or effective number of bits. No independent effective-resolution measurement is established in the reviewed material.

Other documented features

Crowd Supply lists switchable anti-alias filtering, AC/DC coupling, programmable offsets, and external trigger and reference-clock connections. The instrument’s interface is described as a Qt-based Python application for Windows, macOS, and Linux. These are published capabilities; the documentation cited here does not provide independent performance measurements for them.

What you need to run it

The Haasoscope Pro depends on a host computer, installed software and driver, and an adequate power source. The repository’s quick-start describes a desktop release, the FTDI D2xx driver, a USB connection, and launching HaasoscopeProQt. It also documents a Python installation path for users who prefer that route.

Hantek DSO2C10 Digital Storage Oscilloscope 100MHz Bandwidth 2CH
  • Cost-effective economy oscilloscope.
  • Support arbitrary waveform output, 14 kinds of trigger modes, standard with 5 kinds of serial protocol triggers and decodes.
  • Useful commissioning instrument for various fields such as communication, aerospace, national defense, embedded systems, computers, research and education.
  • Package weight of the Product: 5.95 Pounds
  1. Choose an installation path. Follow the official Haasoscope Pro repository for either its downloadable desktop release or Python setup instructions.
  2. Install the USB driver. The quick-start calls for the FTDI D2xx driver before connecting and running the application.
  3. Provide sufficient power. The repository quick-start says to use at least 5 V/2 A USB power and suggests a powered hub or external adapter if the host port is inadequate. The Mouser-hosted safety sheet specifies 5 V DC with a minimum 2 A over USB-C and/or 12 V DC through the barrel jack. Follow the product documentation for the connection you use.
  4. Connect and launch the application. Connect the scope by USB, then launch HaasoscopeProQt as directed by the repository. If the unit does not start reliably, check the power source and connection against the documentation.

Software and project status

The repository organizes the ADC board, FPGA firmware, case panels, software, and subsidiary boards, and links to documentation and a separate active-probe repository. Its README identifies v32 firmware/software on the main branch and v32_test as a development branch. A maintainer discussion dated October 22, 2025 described 31.07-beta3 as current at that time. Because these references differ in date and context, consult the repository’s live releases and documentation for the version applicable to your installation.

There is also a documented ngscopeclient integration: its driver connects to the Haasoscope Pro GUI over a LAN socket, and the GUI must be running first. The ngscopeclient manual gives 50 Hz as an update rate for moderate memory depth; this is a documented condition, not a guarantee across settings or record lengths. See the ngscopeclient oscilloscope driver manual for its integration details.

Availability and published campaign figures

Crowd Supply’s campaign funded on April 10, 2025, raising $97,708 against a $50,000 goal. The page’s crawled listing showed a $999 price and in-stock ordering at that time. Those are historical campaign and listing figures, not confirmation of today’s price, stock, shipping destinations, or lead time. Check the Crowd Supply product page for current terms.

Who should consider it

The Haasoscope Pro may suit engineers and hobbyists who want a host-connected scope and value access to the underlying hardware and software. Its headline bandwidth is most relevant when the measurement uses the specified 50 Ω input configuration; users working at 1 MΩ should base expectations on the lower published bandwidth. Anyone comparing it with another oscilloscope should compare bandwidth at the same impedance, sample rate for the same number of active channels, record depth, input limits, probe setup, and software workflow. The available specifications do not support a performance ranking against alternatives.
