As of October 7, 2026, Motorola says Android 17 has reached the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and that it is working with technology and carrier partners to bring it to devices. That is not confirmation that Android 17 is available for every Motorola Razr Ultra, or that a specific country or carrier has a release date. For the researched model—the motorola razr ultra 2025—check your exact variant and the phone’s own updater before installing.
Is Android 17 available for the Motorola Razr Ultra?
Motorola Support’s software upgrade guidance says: “The latest generation of Android™ – Android 17 – has been released to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). We are working with our technology and carrier partners to bring it to you.” This describes Android’s platform status and Motorola’s partner work; it does not announce an Android 17 release for the Razr Ultra.
Motorola says upgrade plans and timing can change and are not a commitment. The official pages checked do not establish a Razr Ultra-specific Android 17 release date or release notes. The exact answer for your phone depends on its model and distribution channel, and on whether the update is being offered to it now.

The device-specific update instructions referenced here are for the motorola razr ultra 2025. If you have a different model year, or a regional or carrier variant, do not assume its eligibility or menu details match the 2025 guide. Motorola says update information is country-specific; use the upgrade information for your country and purchase channel rather than relying on another owner’s rollout report.

Owners in the same region may not receive an update simultaneously. Its software upgrade page may not show a release date when one is not yet known.
How to check for Android 17 on your phone
- Check the installed Android version. On the Razr Ultra 2025, open Settings > About phone > Device details > Android version. This tells you which Android version is currently installed.
- Check for an over-the-air update. Open Settings > System updates > Check for updates. Motorola’s guide explains how to check for software updates. An offer shown by the phone is the direct indication that an update is available to that device and channel at that time.
- If Android 17 is offered, review the phone’s prompt and follow its onscreen instructions. Don’t treat an update report from another Razr owner as proof that your own phone has the same offer.
What to consider before tapping Install
Use Wi-Fi for the download
Motorola recommends Wi-Fi to avoid mobile data charges. Its guidance distinguishes operating-system upgrades from security updates: automatic cellular downloading may apply to security updates in some circumstances, but that is not the same as an Android version upgrade.

Don’t mistake general preparation for a stated requirement
The Motorola guidance cited here does not specify a minimum battery percentage, a free-storage threshold, or a mandatory backup step for this Android 17 installation. Do not treat any particular threshold as an official requirement based on those pages. As general prudence, you may choose to back up important data and begin with a well-charged phone, but those are not stated Android 17 requirements in the cited guidance.

Why the update may not appear yet
A missing offer does not, by itself, confirm that your phone is ineligible. Motorola says rollout timing can depend on testing and partner approvals and may vary by country, carrier and distribution channel. Check the country-specific upgrade information and the phone’s updater again later; a release date may not yet be known.
Also distinguish a security update from an operating-system upgrade. Motorola describes security updates as fixes for the current Android version; an OS upgrade installs a new Android version. The availability and timing of either can differ by model and distribution channel. See Motorola’s software update guidance for its explanation of update checks and rollout variability.
