A picture can suggest a scene, action, and mood, but it cannot reliably tell a music generator what pace, instruments, or arrangement you want. Treat the image as inspiration, then state the musical choices directly: mood, genre, tempo or groove, instrumentation, dynamics, and whether the track should have vocals.
What an image can—and cannot—tell a music generator
Visual details give a generator material to interpret: who or what appears, the setting, and what is happening. Google DeepMind’s Lyria prompting guide recommends considering those elements and says setting can help establish musical mood.
But the mood is not an objective property of the picture. A person running could suggest exhilaration, anxiety, playfulness, or isolation. The image does not settle which reading you intend, and visible motion does not prescribe a beat or BPM. Choose the emotional direction yourself, then describe the music that should express it.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteBuild the brief in two layers
1. Record the visible evidence
Note the subjects, posture, action, setting, background, and light or color. Keep this short and concrete. “A runner crossing an empty bridge at dawn” is an observation; “a triumphant moment” is an interpretation.

2. Choose the emotional reading
Say what the scene should feel like in the music—perhaps hopeful, uneasy, intimate, or playful. If the image could plausibly support several feelings, name the one you want rather than leaving the generator to guess.
3. Specify the musical controls
State a genre or blend, mood, instruments, tempo or groove, and dynamics. Describe progression when it matters, such as a sparse opening that gradually builds. Google’s Lyria framework also includes vocal style and language, plus lyrics or an instrumental instruction; its Cloud prompting guide says to use “instrumental” to exclude vocals.

4. Make the image a reference, not a musical command
Tell the model which visual elements should inspire the track, then separately say what the track must do. For example: “Use the misty dawn setting as a quiet, hopeful mood reference; make a slow instrumental folk piece with fingerpicked acoustic guitar, soft strings, and a gradual lift. Do not treat visible motion as a literal beat.” This is an illustrative prompt, not a tested recipe or a guarantee of a particular result.

5. Compare versions and revise deliberately
Listen for whether the mood, groove, instruments, and dynamics match your brief. Try more than one version, then change one musical choice at a time—such as the tempo or lead instrument—so you can judge what changed. Google DeepMind encourages experimentation, and Udio’s prompt guidance likewise recommends generating alternatives and refining details. Udio’s advice is about prompt-writing; it does not establish that Udio accepts image input or shares Lyria’s capabilities.

Portrait
“Use the direct gaze and warm indoor light as an intimate, confident mood reference. Mid-tempo soul-pop with electric piano, restrained drums, and a clear, close vocal; gradually open into a warm chorus.”

What image support means in Lyria 3.5
Image input is tool-specific, not a universal image-to-music feature. Google’s current Gemini API documentation for Lyria 3.5 describes supplying up to 10 images alongside text and gives “An atmospheric ambient track inspired by the mood and colors in this image” as an example. Google DeepMind’s Lyria 3.5 product page describes image upload and tracks up to three minutes long. These are product specifications for the named Lyria version, not general limits for other generators; model versions and access can change.
Prompt controls, accepted inputs, output lengths, account eligibility, geographic availability, pricing, and commercial-use terms can differ by service. The cited prompt guidance does not establish those access or rights details, so check the specific product’s current terms before relying on them.
