The claim that AMD would put a 32GB Navi 48 XTW chip in a Radeon PRO W9000 was a leak, not an AMD announcement. AMD now officially lists a related 32GB RDNA 4 workstation card as the Radeon AI PRO R9700, part of the Radeon AI PRO R9000 Series—not the Radeon PRO W9000. Tom’s Hardware reported the original claim on April 20, 2025; AMD’s current product name and specifications are available on its Radeon AI PRO R9700 product page.
What the Navi 48 XTW leak claimed
On April 20, 2025, Tom’s Hardware attributed the claim to leaker Hoang Anh Phu: AMD was considering a professional GPU described as Navi 48 XTW with 32GB of video memory. The report speculated that it could belong to a Radeon PRO W9000 family, but neither that family name nor a product launch was confirmed by AMD.
The report described GDDR6 as likely, not confirmed. It also discussed a 256-bit memory interface and compared the possible 32GB configuration with the then-current Radeon PRO W7900’s 48GB. These were leak-era context and analysis, not proof of an announced W9000 card or final specifications.
What AMD officially calls the 32GB workstation card
AMD’s official product name is Radeon AI PRO R9700, in the Radeon AI PRO R9000 Series. AMD’s comparison page places the AI PRO R9000 products separately from its PRO W7000 series; it does not identify the R9700 as a W9000. AMD lists these specifications for the desktop workstation card:

- Memory: 32GB GDDR6
- Memory interface: 256-bit
- Peak memory bandwidth: up to 640 GB/s
- Compute units: 64
- Stream processors: 4,096
- Total board power: 300W
- Interface: PCIe 5.0 x16
These are vendor specifications, not independent benchmark results. AMD describes the card as suited to local AI inference, development, and other memory-intensive workloads; that is AMD’s product positioning, not an independently verified performance finding.

What the specifications do—and do not—tell you
The R9700’s 32GB capacity, memory bandwidth, compute-unit count, and power rating describe the hardware. They do not establish how fast it will run a particular AI model or professional application, or whether it will outperform another GPU. Those questions require comparable testing in the target workload.

AMD’s ROCm 10.0.0 hardware documentation identifies the R9700 as RDNA 4 / gfx1201, with 32 GiB of VRAM and 64 compute units. That hardware identification alone does not establish support for every framework, workload, or deployment configuration; check the relevant software’s official compatibility information for your setup.

How to read the W9000 wording
“Navi 48 XTW 32GB” and “Radeon PRO W9000 leak” refer to the original rumor and its speculative naming. They are not AMD’s official retail model designation. For the product AMD lists now, use Radeon AI PRO R9700 or 32GB workstation GPU.
