AMD has not announced Ryzen Z3. A report published October 1, 2026, attributes a possible four-core plus two low-power-core CPU layout and 12 RDNA 4m compute units to a leak, while warning that the CPU configuration may have changed. There are no confirmed Z3-powered handhelds or tested performance results yet.

What the Ryzen Z3 leak claims

TweakTown reports that leaker Gotou_3rd described a semi-custom handheld chip using “same IP” and a 25 × 25 mm FF6 package, with “4c+2lp (maybe changed)” and “12CU.” Those are abbreviated claims attributed to the leaker, not specifications announced by AMD. Read TweakTown’s report.

The report interprets the CPU notation as four standard cores and two low-power cores, alongside 12 RDNA 4m compute units. It connects the design to Zen 6-based Medusa Point IP, but describes Z3 as a semi-custom handheld design. Neither the low-power cores’ generation nor the final CPU and GPU configurations are established. The warning that the CPU arrangement may have changed means the reported counts should be treated as provisional.

Detail Ryzen Z3 rumor Ryzen Z2 Extreme, official AMD specifications
CPU configuration Reported as 4 standard cores + 2 low-power cores; may have changed 3 Zen 5 + 5 Zen 5c cores; 8 cores and 16 threads
Graphics Reported as 12 RDNA 4m compute units RDNA 3.5 graphics with 16 graphics cores
Power Not stated in the TweakTown report 28 W default TDP; configurable TDP of 15–35 W
Devices, price and availability Not established Not covered by the cited processor specification page

AMD’s Ryzen Z2 Extreme page lists the confirmed Z2 Extreme specifications. The different graphics counts cannot by themselves establish which chip is faster: core and compute-unit counts are not direct performance comparisons, and the available information does not provide Z3 measurements.

What is unknown about performance and handhelds

No independently measured Ryzen Z3 benchmarks, battery-life tests, confirmed prices, launch timing, or named devices appear in the cited reporting. The available evidence also does not establish whether there will be different Z3 variants. As a result, claims about frame rates, battery endurance, or when shoppers could buy a Z3 handheld would be speculation.

Useful factors include the actual device price and availability, configured power limits, sustained game performance, battery life, display, memory and storage, and ergonomics. AMD’s Ryzen Z1 and Z2 series overview provides broader official context for existing handheld processors, but it does not verify the Z3 rumor.

What prospective buyers should do

  • Treat the 4+2 CPU layout and 12-CU graphics figure as leaked, provisional details—not an AMD product specification.
  • Do not buy or delay a handheld on the assumption that a Ryzen Z3 model, particular launch date, or performance improvement is confirmed.
  • When a Z3-powered device is actually announced, compare its full configuration and independent testing with available handhelds at the same price and power settings.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
