AMD’s Ryzen AI PRO 300 Series is a commercial processor family for business PCs, pairing Zen 5 CPUs with an XDNA 2 neural processing unit (NPU) and integrated Radeon graphics. AMD reports more than 50 NPU TOPS across the family; its Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 375 is specified at up to 55 NPU TOPS. That puts the chips above the Copilot+ PC NPU threshold AMD cited at launch, but the processor alone does not guarantee that a particular laptop is certified or supports every Copilot+ feature.

What is AMD Ryzen AI PRO 300?

AMD announced the Ryzen AI PRO 300 Series on October 10, 2024, as a processor family for commercial notebooks and other business PCs. Its main components are Zen 5 CPU cores for general computing, an XDNA 2 NPU for supported AI tasks, and integrated Radeon graphics. AMD presents the combination as a platform for business applications and local AI workloads. AMD’s launch announcement describes the family as built for commercial and Copilot+ enterprise PCs.

What the CPU, NPU and graphics do

  • Zen 5 CPU: Runs operating-system tasks and conventional applications, including business software.
  • XDNA 2 NPU: Dedicated hardware for compatible AI workloads that can run on the device rather than requiring every inference to be sent to a cloud service.
  • Integrated Radeon graphics: Handles graphics tasks and can contribute alongside the CPU and NPU to supported productivity and AI experiences. AMD’s announcement of Dell commercial PCs describes these resources working together.

How many TOPS does Ryzen AI PRO 300 have?

AMD’s October 2024 launch release describes the family as providing “50+ NPU TOPS” (trillions of operations per second). The highest specific figure cited in AMD’s launch-era materials is 55 NPU TOPS for the Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 375. AMD’s product page also lists up to 55 NPU TOPS for the Ryzen AI PRO 300 family. These are vendor-reported peak NPU specifications, not a measure of how quickly every application will run. AMD launch release; AMD Ryzen AI PRO product page; AMD investor release.

TOPS is a peak throughput figure for the NPU. It does not establish the speed of a particular AI feature, which depends on the software, model, memory and workload as well as the processor. When comparing PCs, check both the NPU specification and whether the applications your organization uses support local acceleration on that system.

Does Ryzen AI PRO 300 qualify for Copilot+ PCs?

AMD said at launch that the family’s NPU performance exceeds Microsoft’s Copilot+ PC requirement. That supports AMD’s Copilot+ positioning, but it should not be read as proof that every computer with a Ryzen AI PRO 300 chip is a Copilot+ PC. Certification and feature access apply to the finished PC and can depend on Microsoft’s current requirements, OEM configuration, software and availability. Check the exact model’s current Microsoft and manufacturer specifications before buying.

What makes the PRO series relevant to business IT?

AMD markets its PRO technologies as security and manageability capabilities intended to help IT teams secure devices, manage fleets and streamline deployment. Those are platform features claimed by AMD; they should not be confused with an independent security audit or a guarantee that a device meets a particular organization’s requirements. IT buyers should confirm the exact security, management, support and lifecycle provisions with the PC manufacturer.

How to compare Ryzen AI PRO 300 with Intel enterprise AI PCs

There is no single processor specification that establishes which platform is the better business PC. Compare specific systems in the same class and configuration, including the applications and management environment your organization actually uses.

What to compare What to check
NPU and AI software Vendor-reported NPU TOPS, supported AI applications, and whether required features run locally on the exact PC.
CPU Core and thread configuration, then performance under sustained workloads relevant to your users.
Integrated graphics Graphics capability for the workloads in question, including any AI tasks that can use the GPU.
Battery, noise and thermals Results for the exact chassis and configuration; processor-family claims do not predict every laptop’s real-world behavior.
Business management and security Available platform features, IT-management compatibility, warranty, service and lifecycle support.
System configuration Memory capacity, storage, display, ports and upgradeability.
Cost and availability Current price, regional stock and service terms for the actual model under consideration.

AMD’s business-laptop materials describe testing and engineering projections involving video playback, web browsing, Microsoft Teams and MobileMark25 battery-life methodology. Those are AMD’s claims and do not substitute for independent, like-for-like results for the specific systems being considered. No independent battery-life, benchmark, price or market-share comparison is established here.

What to verify before choosing a Ryzen AI PRO 300 PC

  1. Identify the exact model. Confirm its full processor name and whether the configuration is a notebook or desktop.
  2. Check the target AI features. Confirm that the operating system, Copilot+ status and applications your users need are supported on that particular PC.
  3. Match the configuration to the workload. Review memory, storage, display, ports and upgradeability, not just NPU TOPS.
  4. Assess the finished system. Look for model-specific battery, acoustic and thermal information, along with warranty, service and lifecycle terms.
  5. Compare alternatives on equal terms. Use systems with comparable form factors and configurations, and test workloads that reflect your organization’s actual use.
