AMD announced a U.S. suggested launch price of $899 for the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition. The processor launched on April 22, 2026, so that date has passed; $899 is the announced launch price, not a verified current retail price.

Price and launch date

AMD’s April 22, 2026 launch announcement set the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition’s U.S. suggested price at $899 and said retail availability began that day. AMD’s launch announcement establishes the launch figure, not what retailers charge now. A separate April 8 report from HotHardware also reported the price confirmation.

What AMD’s specifications say

AMD lists the 9950X3D2 as a Zen 5 desktop processor for the AM5 socket. Its product specification page, accessed October 4, 2026, gives these figures:

Specification AMD-listed value
CPU cores / threads 16 / 32
Base clock 4.3 GHz
Maximum boost clock Up to 5.6 GHz
L3 cache 192 MB
Default TDP 200W
Socket AM5
Product ID 100-100001978WOF

AMD’s launch announcement separately describes the processor as having 208 MB of total cache. That is not the same label as the specification page’s 192 MB of L3 cache; retain AMD’s distinction rather than treating the total-cache figure as L3 alone. See AMD’s product specification page.

Dual 3D V-Cache and intended buyers

AMD calls the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 its first desktop processor with dual 3D V-Cache and positions it for developers, creators, and gamers. That describes AMD’s product positioning, not independently established performance. The cited launch and specification materials do not provide comparative benchmark results, so they cannot show how it performs against other processors in gaming, compiling, or content-creation workloads.

Cooling and practical buying considerations

AMD lists the processor as a boxed product, but says a thermal solution is not included and recommends liquid cooling for optimal performance. The available specifications do not identify a particular cooler or establish a compatibility assessment. Before buying, check that any cooler you choose supports your AM5 setup and suits the processor’s power and thermal requirements.

To assess whether the processor is worth its price for a particular system, compare a current retailer quote with independent results for the workloads you care about, and account for the cost of cooling. The $899 figure alone is not a current-price check or evidence of value against competing processors.
