Short answer: AMD announced the Ryzen 7 5800X3D 10th Anniversary Edition at a suggested US etail price of $349, and Tom’s Hardware reported Amazon availability at that price on June 26, 2026. A Digital Citizen search-result extract also reported $349 in two Amazon checks on October 2, but the live listing, seller, stock and shipping should be verified before you buy. AMD’s $349 figure is a suggested launch price—not proof that AMD currently sells the processor directly to consumers for that amount.
What the $349 Amazon claim actually means
AMD announced the 10th Anniversary Edition on May 31, 2026, with availability beginning June 25, at a $349 suggested etail price. Tom’s Hardware’s June 26 update said Amazon had the chip at MSRP. That dated report does not establish October inventory or identify the seller.
The October 2 Digital Citizen search extract says two Amazon listing checks showed $349. Because the live product page was not independently verified, treat that as a reported price rather than a guaranteed current offer. On Amazon, confirm the price shown at checkout, the “Sold by” and “Ships from” fields, warranty terms and delivery date.
Is $349 the same price AMD charges?
Not exactly. AMD’s number is a suggested launch price for retailers. It is not a direct-sale price guarantee, and retailers can change prices or run out of stock. The original Ryzen 7 5800X3D launched in 2022 with AMD’s suggested price of $449, so the anniversary edition’s announced MSRP is $100 lower. Those are AMD’s suggested prices, not a record of every street price.

Who should consider this processor?
Best fit: an existing AM4 gaming PC
The 5800X3D is an AM4, DDR4 processor. Tom’s Hardware’s June 2026 retest judged it an attractive way to extract more gaming performance from an existing AM4 system, while considering roughly $350 expensive for a new build. That is Tom’s Hardware’s upgrade assessment, not an independent universal ranking.
Less compelling: a brand-new system
A new buyer must weigh the complete platform cost, including a motherboard and memory. The 5800X3D’s main economic advantage is avoiding those purchases when your current AM4 board and DDR4 kit remain suitable. This article does not establish current prices or benchmark rankings for newer alternatives.

- 8 Cores and 16 processing threads, based on AMD "Zen 3" architecture
- 4.8 GHz Max Boost, unlocked for overclocking, 36 MB cache, DDR4-3200 support
- For the AMD Socket AM4 platform, with PCIe 4.0 support
- AMD Wraith Prism Cooler with RGB LED included
Specifications and compatibility
AMD lists these specifications for the processor:
- 8 cores and 16 threads
- 3.4 GHz base clock and up to 4.5 GHz maximum boost
- 96 MB L3 cache
- 105W default TDP
- AM4 socket, DDR4 memory and PCIe 4.0
AMD lists X570, X470, B550, B450 and A520 chipsets as supported. That list does not guarantee support for every board revision or BIOS. Before ordering, look up your exact motherboard model in its manufacturer’s CPU-support list and install the required BIOS while your current CPU still works.
Does the anniversary edition include a cooler?
No. AMD lists the processor’s thermal solution as not included and recommends liquid cooling for optimal performance. The anniversary package includes a Carbice Ice Pad, a thermal-interface pad—not a CPU cooler. You still need a compatible cooler, mounting hardware and adequate case airflow.

What AMD claims about performance
When AMD introduced the original 5800X3D in 2022, it called it the first Ryzen processor with 3D V-Cache and claimed up to 15% more gaming performance than processors without stacked-cache technology. That percentage is AMD’s own launch claim and should not be treated as an independent benchmark.
AMD’s launch messaging has also emphasized upgrade longevity. David McAfee, corporate vice president and general manager, Client Channel and Graphics Business, said: “We’re committed to giving gamers high-performance technologies with the flexibility to upgrade their systems over time. Ultimately, our goal is to deliver unmatched ownership experiences for players around the world.”

For the original launch, Saeid Moshkelani, senior vice president and general manager, Client business unit, AMD, said: “Whether you’re an early adopter seeking the ultimate in gaming performance with the first Ryzen processor featuring AMD 3D V-Cache technology or a new gamer building your first rig, you can find a best-in-class experience with AMD.”

Check these details before buying on Amazon
- Confirm the listing is the Ryzen 7 5800X3D 10th Anniversary Edition, not another Ryzen 7 model.
- Check the live price at checkout; $349 is the announced suggested price, not a permanent guarantee.
- Review the seller, fulfillment method, return policy and warranty.
- Verify your exact AM4 motherboard and BIOS support.
- Budget for a suitable cooler—the bundled Ice Pad is not one.
- Confirm stock and delivery, since the June report and October search extract do not guarantee availability when you order.
Bottom line
$349 is a credible price point for the Ryzen 7 5800X3D 10th Anniversary Edition because it matches AMD’s announced suggested price and a dated Tom’s Hardware Amazon report. It is most defensible as an AM4/DDR4 gaming upgrade. Verify the live Amazon listing and your motherboard support before paying, and do not mistake AMD’s MSRP—or the included Ice Pad—for a direct AMD sale or a complete cooling solution.
