Yes. July 7, 2019, began as a leak-based rumor about AMD’s Ryzen 3000 “Matisse” processors, X500-series motherboards and Navi graphics cards. AMD later confirmed that date for Ryzen 3000 desktop processors and Radeon RX 5700-series graphics cards. X570 motherboards were part of the launch platform, but AMD’s July announcement described more than 50 partner board models as expected additions—not as processors or graphics cards launching alongside them.
How the July 7 date moved from rumor to confirmation
| Date | What was known | Status |
|---|---|---|
| February 19, 2019 | PC Perspective reported leaked information pointing to July 7 for Ryzen 3000/Matisse, X500-series motherboards and Navi consumer graphics cards. | Rumor, not an AMD announcement. PC Perspective’s February report and HotHardware’s matching report both date to February 19. |
| May 26, 2019 | At Computex, AMD announced its third-generation Ryzen desktop processors and X570 chipset for AM4. It said Ryzen desktop processors were expected to be available globally on July 7. | Official announcement and forecast. AMD’s Computex release also anticipated more than 50 new X570 motherboard models. |
| June 10, 2019 | At E3, AMD named Radeon RX 5700 XT and RX 5700 graphics cards and said they were expected to be generally available July 7. | Official product and date announcement. AMD’s E3 release listed historical suggested e-tail prices of $449 and $379 USD, respectively. |
| July 7, 2019 | AMD announced worldwide availability of Ryzen 3000 desktop processors and Radeon RX 5700-series graphics cards. | Confirmed availability. AMD also said partners were expected to add more than 50 X570 motherboard models. AMD’s July 7 announcement records the confirmation. |
Which products the rumor covered
Ryzen 3000 “Matisse” desktop processors
“Matisse” was the name associated with the Ryzen 3000 desktop processor family in the early reports. AMD’s May announcement made the third-generation Ryzen desktop launch official and forecast global availability on July 7. The July 7 release then confirmed that Ryzen 3000 desktop processors were available worldwide.
That date did not apply to every Ryzen 3000 model. AMD’s June E3 announcement listed the Ryzen 9 3950X for September, so it should not be described as a July 7 launch product.
X570 AM4 motherboards
X570 was AMD’s announced chipset for the AM4 platform. AMD anticipated more than 50 new X570 motherboard models from partners around the launch; the figure was a manufacturer expectation, not a count of boards independently verified as available on July 7.
#1 Best Overall
- Can deliver fast 100 plus FPS performance in the world's most popular games, discrete graphics card required
- 6 Cores and 12 processing threads, bundled with the AMD Wraith Stealth cooler
- 4.2 GHz Max Boost, unlocked for overclocking, 19 MB cache, DDR4-3200 support
- For the advanced Socket AM4 platform
A shared AM4 socket does not, by itself, establish that a particular older motherboard supports a particular Ryzen 3000 CPU. Compatibility depends on the exact board and its BIOS and CPU-support information. Check the motherboard maker’s support page for the specific model before assuming an upgrade will work.
Radeon Navi graphics cards
The concrete consumer graphics products AMD identified at E3 were the Radeon RX 5700 XT and Radeon RX 5700, based on its Navi graphics architecture. AMD said both were expected to be generally available July 7 and, on that date, announced worldwide availability of the RX 5700 series.

- The world’s fastest gaming processor, built on AMD ‘Zen5’ technology and Next Gen 3D V-Cache.
- 8 cores and 16 threads, delivering +~16% IPC uplift and great power efficiency
- 96MB L3 cache with better thermal performance vs. previous gen and allowing higher clock speeds, up to 5.2GHz
- Drop-in ready for proven Socket AM5 infrastructure
- Cooler not included
AMD’s E3 suggested e-tail prices were $449 USD for the RX 5700 XT and $379 USD for the RX 5700. Those are historical 2019 launch figures, not current prices or a guide to today’s availability.

The February report correctly pointed to the July 7 date and the broad families of hardware later announced. But at the time, it was reporting leaked information: AMD had not yet officially announced the date or products. The official Ryzen and X570 announcement came in May, the specific RX 5700-series date followed in June, and AMD confirmed worldwide availability on July 7.

- Max. Boost Clock : Up to 5.7 GHz; Base Clock: 4.3 GHz

- Architecture: Zen 5; Former Codename: Granite Ridge AM5
The wording also needs a distinction between product launches and platform plans. Ryzen 3000 processors and RX 5700-series graphics cards were the products AMD confirmed available on July 7. X570 was the chipset and motherboard platform announced for AM4, with more than 50 partner models anticipated. And the date did not cover every Ryzen 3000 processor, including the Ryzen 9 3950X.
