AMD said in December 2024 that it was shipping more Ryzen 7 9800X3D processors each week and expected availability to improve as shipments ramped that quarter. That was a launch-era promise, not a forecast of current stock. On October 4, 2026, AMD’s US store listed the CPU for $479 but marked it out of stock; that snapshot does not show availability at other retailers or in other regions.

What AMD said about Ryzen 7 9800X3D supply

In a December 9, 2024 report, HotHardware quoted an unnamed AMD representative: “We are working diligently to get as much supply to market as soon as possible, with more processors being shipped every week. We expect availability to get better as shipments ramp throughout the quarter.” The statement referred to the quarter then underway, not to a continuing or current supply commitment. HotHardware’s December 9, 2024 report and Tom’s Hardware’s January 14, 2025 update identify the speaker only as an AMD representative; neither names the person.

What the scalper prices did—and did not—show

HotHardware reported recently sold marketplace listings ranging from $600 to more than $800 against AMD’s $479 suggested end-user price in 2024. Those were the outlet’s dated observations of listings, not a verified measure of all sales or proof of how many processors scalpers bought. They should not be treated as current resale prices. HotHardware’s report provides the historical comparison.
