AMD said it was investigating after a hacker claimed to offer data allegedly linked to the company for sale in June 2024. The public reporting does not establish that AMD confirmed a breach, authenticate the advertised files, or document the investigation’s final outcome.
What happened in the AMD data-theft claim?
On June 19, 2024, SecurityWeek reported that a threat actor using the name IntelBroker had announced on BreachForums that he was “selling the AMD.com data breach.” IntelBroker said the material had been obtained in June 2024 and posted screenshots to support the claim, according to the report.
Those details describe what IntelBroker claimed and what SecurityWeek reported—not verified proof of a theft. SecurityWeek cautioned that the actor could exaggerate claims, and it did not independently establish the material’s authenticity or where it came from. SecurityWeek’s June 19, 2024 report is the central public account of the allegation.

SecurityWeek reported that the advertised material allegedly included:
#1 Best Overall
- The world’s fastest gaming processor, built on AMD ‘Zen5’ technology and Next Gen 3D V-Cache.
- 8 cores and 16 threads, delivering +~16% IPC uplift and great power efficiency
- 96MB L3 cache with better thermal performance vs. previous gen and allowing higher clock speeds, up to 5.2GHz
- Drop-in ready for proven Socket AM5 infrastructure
- Cooler not included
- Customer and employee databases. The employee information was said to include names, job roles, phone numbers, and email addresses.
- Information about future AMD products, datasheets, source code, property files, and firmware.
- Financial documents.
These were alleged categories, not confirmed exposed records. The report did not authenticate the files, establish how many people or records might be involved, or verify that the screenshots represented genuine AMD data.
Did AMD confirm that it was hacked?
No. AMD confirmed that it was investigating a claim, not that the company’s systems had been breached or that the listed data had been stolen. An unnamed AMD spokesperson told SecurityWeek: “We are aware of a cybercriminal organization claiming to be in possession of stolen AMD data,” and “We are working closely with law enforcement officials and a third-party hosting partner to investigate the claim and the significance of the data.”

- AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D Gaming and Content Creation Processor
- Max. Boost Clock : Up to 5.7 GHz; Base Clock: 4.3 GHz
- Form Factor: Desktops , Boxed Processor
- Architecture: Zen 5; Former Codename: Granite Ridge AM5
The wording matters: AMD described the material as something a criminal organization was claiming to possess. The statement did not verify the alleged data, confirm exposure of customer or employee information, or report an investigation result.
Could the alleged data have come from a third-party provider?
AMD’s mention of a third-party hosting partner leaves the possible source open. The public report did not name that partner or establish whether the alleged material came from AMD’s own systems, a provider’s environment, or another source. The partner reference is not proof that either AMD or a provider suffered a breach.

What is known about the investigation’s outcome?
The available public sources do not establish the investigation’s final result, the alleged data’s authenticity or origin, or the scope of any exposure. AMD’s later corporate filings discuss cybersecurity risks generally; they do not provide confirmation or a final update about the specific 2024 allegation. AMD’s 2026 Form 10-K, filed February 4, 2026, describes risks such as unauthorized access to confidential information and potential investigation, remediation, litigation, and regulatory costs. Its Form 10-Q, filed August 5, 2026, is also general corporate-risk context—not an incident finding. AMD’s SEC filings
AMD’s product-security page lists vulnerability bulletins and briefs, but those disclosures concern product security and do not, on that page, confirm this alleged corporate data theft. A software or processor vulnerability disclosure is not evidence that company or provider data was accessed. AMD product security disclosures
