Amazon has confirmed a smart-glasses program for its Delivery Associates, with hands-free package scanning, walking directions, proof-of-delivery capture and safety alerts. A separate product for everyday consumers remains a reported project: Amazon has not confirmed a retail launch, price or final specifications.
Amazon has confirmed delivery glasses, not consumer availability
Amazon’s official announcement, updated September 21, 2026, describes smart glasses designed for Delivery Associates. The system combines AI-powered sensing, computer vision, cameras and a heads-up display to support delivery tasks without requiring the driver to use a phone. Amazon says participation is voluntary for Delivery Service Partner (DSP) owners and their teams.
That is distinct from the consumer product reported in 2025. GeekWire, citing The Information on September 10, 2025, reported that Amazon was developing both consumer smart glasses and a separate product for delivery drivers. The consumer glasses were reportedly aimed at late 2026 or early 2027, but Amazon had not confirmed a consumer retail launch in the cited reporting. No cited source confirms that either product can currently be bought by consumers.
What the reported consumer glasses may offer
GeekWire’s September 2025 report, citing The Information, said the consumer model was expected to have microphones, speakers, a camera and a full-color display in one eye. Those are reported plans, not final specifications confirmed by Amazon. The cited material does not establish the device’s price, precise launch date, availability by country or whether the reported features will appear in a shipping product.

What Amazon’s delivery glasses are designed to do
The driver system focuses on tasks during the walk from a parked vehicle to a delivery address. Amazon says the glasses can scan packages, show walking directions in the wearer’s field of view, capture proof of delivery, identify hazards and provide pet alerts. Amazon’s customer-facing description says: “These glasses help DAs scan packages, see heads-up walking directions, capture proof of delivery, and receive pet alerts—all without the use of their phone.”
Amazon also describes real-time defect detection that can warn if a package is left at the wrong address. A paw-print icon and audio alert can indicate a possible pet. TechCrunch’s 2025 reporting said the driver glasses were being trialed in North America and would activate after a driver parks, then help locate the package and guide the driver to the address. It described wrong-address and pet detection as future capabilities at that time; Amazon’s 2026 update now lists related alerts among the system’s functions.

What the driver rollout figures do—and do not—mean
Amazon’s September 2026 update says more than 500 Delivery Associates tested the glasses over 18 months and made more than 275,000 customer deliveries. Those are Amazon-reported pilot results, not a claim that the glasses are available to every driver or that the rollout is complete. Its plans are to deploy 5,000 additional devices in 2026 and expand to more than 20,000 devices by the end of 2027; these are planned device counts, not consumer sales figures.
Amazon’s quoted tester Kaleb M. said, “I felt safer the whole time because the glasses have the info right in my field of view.” That describes one Delivery Associate’s experience; it does not establish a measured safety outcome for all users.
