In the US, Amazon Prime costs $14.99 per month or $139 per year, and Prime Video is included with that membership. For ad-free viewing of most Prime Video films and shows, Amazon’s Prime Video Ultra add-on costs an extra $4.99 per month or $45.99 per year for customers with annual Prime. A video-only ad-supported plan is also reported at $8.99 per month, but Amazon’s official pricing sources do not confirm that offer, so check the signup price and availability before subscribing. Prices were checked October 5, 2026, and may change.
Amazon Prime Video plans and prices in the US
The key difference is whether you are paying for the broader Amazon Prime membership or video access alone. Prime Video comes with Prime; Ultra is a paid add-on for Prime members. A standalone video plan is reported by a secondary source, but its availability and price should be confirmed at checkout.
| Option | Price checked October 5, 2026 | What it includes |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon Prime, monthly | $14.99 per month | Prime Video plus other Prime membership benefits. |

| Prime Access | $6.99 per month for qualifying customers | Discounted Prime membership for eligible customers; eligibility applies. |
| Prime Video Ultra, monthly add-on | $4.99 per month, in addition to Prime | Ad-free viewing for most Prime Video films and shows, subject to exceptions. |
| Prime Video Ultra, annual add-on | $45.99 per year for customers on an annual Prime membership plan | Same Ultra add-on, billed annually; Amazon says this is a 23% discount versus paying monthly. |
| Standalone Prime Video | $8.99 per month, as reported by Tom’s Guide in 2026; verify at checkout | Reported video-only ad-supported access; Amazon’s official pricing sources collected do not confirm this offer. |

Is Prime Video included with Amazon Prime?
Yes. Prime Video is one benefit of Amazon Prime, alongside other savings, convenience, and entertainment benefits. Amazon describes it as “just one of the savings, convenience, and entertainment benefits included with a Prime membership” on its Prime benefits page.

What does Prime Video Ultra cost?
Prime Video Ultra is an additional US subscription, not a replacement for Prime. It costs $4.99 monthly, or $45.99 annually for customers with an annual Prime membership plan. Amazon says the annual Ultra price is 23% less than paying monthly for Ultra over a year.

For a clear total-cost comparison before tax:
- Monthly Prime plus monthly Ultra: $14.99 + $4.99 = $19.98 per month.
- Annual Prime plus annual Ultra: $139 + $45.99 = $184.99 per year, paid upfront.
These totals use the US prices announced by Amazon in 2026. The annual option is not a monthly payment plan: it requires paying the year’s membership and Ultra fees upfront. Eligible Prime Access customers may have a lower Prime membership rate, but eligibility determines whether that price applies.

Amazon says Ultra lets subscribers watch “most Prime Video movies and TV shows without advertising interruptions.” “Most” matters: the add-on is not a promise that every video on Prime Video will be ad-free.

Prime Video channel subscriptions are paid add-ons for third-party premium networks and other channels. They are not part of the Prime membership or the Ultra fee unless a particular offer explicitly says otherwise. Amazon says customers pay only for the subscriptions they choose, can cancel them at any time, and most offer a free trial where applicable. Trial availability and terms can vary, so check the individual channel’s offer before signing up.

Which plan fits your viewing and budget?
- Choose Prime monthly if you want the broader Prime membership and prefer not to pay a full year upfront.
- Consider Prime annual if you value the broader benefits and are comfortable paying $139 upfront rather than $14.99 each month.
- Add Ultra if reducing ads in most eligible Prime Video films and shows is worth the additional recurring fee, while keeping the listed exceptions in mind.
- Check for standalone video access if you want streaming without the wider Prime bundle. The reported $8.99 monthly price is not confirmed in Amazon’s official pricing sources gathered here, so rely on the price and plan details Amazon shows at checkout.
- Include channel fees in your total if you plan to subscribe to third-party channels; those charges are separate.
