Amaysim’s NBN 500 plan is listed at AU$50 a month, but only for the first six months. After that, the price shown on its plans page is AU$90 a month. The page was checked on 9 October 2026 and gives an NBN Sale end date of 20 October. Whether the offer is worth switching to depends on three things: whether your address can get NBN 500, whether your current modem and Wi-Fi can use the speed, and what you will pay once the introductory period ends.
What the AU$50 price includes
The AU$50 figure is a stacked promotion, not a standard rate. Amaysim’s current NBN plans page says the price includes a AU$30 NBN Sale discount and a AU$10 Standard Intro Offer, taking the AU$90 standard monthly price down to AU$50 for six months. The promotion is for new services only, and the page states that terms apply.
| Stage or option | Monthly price | Conditions and source |
|---|---|---|
| Introductory period (first six months) | AU$50 | Includes AU$30 NBN Sale and AU$10 Standard Intro Offer; new services only; terms apply. Amaysim NBN plans page, checked 9 October 2026. |
| After six months | AU$90 | Listed price after the introductory period on the same page. |
| SIM bundle after the introductory offer | AU$80 | Shown for customers with an active Amaysim SIM. Amaysim NBN plans page, checked 9 October 2026. |
| Baseline disclosure (no special promotions) | AU$90 minimum; AU$80 introductory price for six months | Amaysim Critical Information Summary valid from 15 September 2025. This document excludes special discounts, so it does not describe the current sale. |
The AU$80 SIM bundle figure and the AU$80 introductory price in the older summary are different offers. Only the SIM bundle applies to people who already hold an active Amaysim SIM.
How long the price lasts and what you will pay
The six-month window is the part most readers miss. Using only the prices listed on Amaysim’s page, the first 12 months would cost AU$840 (six months at AU$50 and six at AU$90). The same 12 months at the standard AU$90 price would cost AU$1,080, so the saving is AU$240 over the first year. With an active Amaysim SIM and the SIM bundle, the post-promotion price drops to AU$80, which adds AU$60 of savings in the second half-year. These totals use listed prices only and do not include any other charges.

Plans are described as unlimited data and month-to-month, with no lock-in. Amaysim’s summary and plan page both use this wording, so confirm it on the checkout screen before you pay.

Check eligibility before anything else
NBN 500 is listed only on fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) and hybrid fibre-coaxial (HFC) connections. Amaysim’s fibre-upgrade page says the plan is available on those connections only, and its explainer says faster plans such as NBN 500 are not available on some connections, including fibre-to-the-node (FTTN). A plan that is advertised nationally can still be unavailable at your address.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →- Open Amaysim’s NBN plans page or fibre-upgrade page and use the address check that the provider directs shoppers to.
- If the check shows NBN 500 as available, note the connection type it reports. FTTP or HFC is required for this plan.
- If the connection is FTTN or another type not listed for NBN 500, the AU$50 offer does not apply to your address. Choose the fastest plan the check offers instead.
- If the fibre-upgrade offer appears for your address, read its installation terms separately, because the fibre-upgrade page includes its own fast fibre installation offer.
Speeds to expect
Amaysim’s Key Facts Sheet lists NBN 500 typical busy-period speeds of 500 Mbps download and 43 Mbps upload, measured for the 7 to 11 pm busy period. These are the provider’s own published figures, not results from independent testing, and the sheet does not say how they were measured.

- MultiGig speed for today & tomorrow: DOCSIS 3.1 performance supports cable internet plans up to 2.5 Gbps, delivering ultrafast streaming, gaming, and downloads.
- Save on rental fees: Own your modem and avoid monthly equipment charges - check with your cable provider for plan compatibility.
- Compact, modern design: Space saving footprint with simple LED indicators for power, upstream/downstream, and online status.
- Easy setup: Connect cable, power on, and activate with your cable provider. Then join the default Wi-Fi or personalize your own Wi-Fi network name and password.
- Wi-Fi 6 Coverage: Includes dual-band W-Fi 6 (AX3000) delivering up to 3 Gbps wireless performance for your whole home.
- The figures are typical busy-period speeds, not a guaranteed maximum at every hour.
- The same sheet warns that a self-supplied modem and your in-home setup may limit the speed you actually achieve.
- Speeds at one device, such as a laptop on Wi-Fi in another room, can be well below the plan figure even when the connection itself is capable of more.
Equipment: you need your own modem or router
NBN 500 is a bring-your-own-modem service. Amaysim’s BYO modem guidance asks for a Wi-Fi modem or router with a WAN, NBN, or Internet port, and recommends Wi-Fi 6 for plans of 100 Mbps or faster.
Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 6
Amaysim’s fibre-upgrade page says Wi-Fi 5 has a typical maximum speed of up to 500 Mbps. Read this as a ceiling for the standard, not a promise that a Wi-Fi 5 device will reach 500 Mbps. Its own guidance says modem capability and home setup both affect the result.

If you need to buy a router
If your current device is older than Wi-Fi 5 or does not have a suitable WAN port, a Wi-Fi 6 router with a gigabit WAN port is a sensible category to check. Confirm it against Amaysim’s current requirements and your connection type before buying.
How to switch and what the switch involves
- Find your AVC ID. Amaysim’s help article “Where can I find my AVC ID” explains where to find it and where to enter it. The ID is needed to switch internet providers.
- Choose your plan and timing. Amaysim’s help article “Changing your amaysim NBN plan” says customers can change plans once per monthly renewal cycle, and that a higher-speed plan takes effect immediately.
- Ask about the transfer timetable. Amaysim’s published material does not set out an installation or transfer timeline for a specific address. Ask for one before you cancel your current service, so you know how long the gap could be.
- Set up your router before the new service starts. Test the modem and Wi-Fi on the new connection before you rely on it for work or streaming.
Is the offer worth it?
For a household with an FTTP or HFC connection, a compatible modem or router, and a plan to stay for at least a year, the AU$50 price gives a real first-year saving. For an FTTN address, or a home where the existing equipment cannot support the plan, the offer does not apply or will not deliver the speed in the listing.

Check the current offer and your address before you sign up, because the sale end date is 20 October and the offer details are time-limited.
The Bottom Line
The AU$50 price is real on Amaysim’s current plans page, but it is an introductory rate for six months, and the standard price after that is AU$90 a month. It applies only if your address is eligible for NBN 500 on FTTP or HFC, and it is only available until the NBN Sale ends on 20 October. Plan on paying AU$90 for the long term, and treat the AU$50 as a first-half-year discount.
