AlphaRank is described by its creator as a web app where artists submit PNG or JPG artwork for AI-assisted scoring. The app is said to return feedback across four criteria—composition, colour, technique, and presentation—and display results on daily, weekly, and all-time leaderboards.

What is AlphaRank?

AlphaRank, subtitled “Battle Arena of Arts,” is presented as a web-based art competition and scoring app, not a physical art product. Its creator, Mir Shah, describes a public feed featuring a hand-picked artwork alongside leaderboards of scored submissions. These details come from the creator’s project description; they are not independent verification that the live app currently operates as described.

How does artwork scoring work?

According to the creator, a vision model evaluates submitted artwork using four editable judging criteria:

  • Composition
  • Colour
  • Technique
  • Presentation

Each category has its own Sanity judgingCriteria document, with a weight, description, rules, examples of good and bad work, and adjustments for contexts such as cutouts, posters, and photos. The app fetches those criteria when a submission is made and uses them to build the model’s judging prompt. The creator says a published change to the criteria applies to the next submission.

The creator also describes a 10-point bonus for a genuine transparent background. AlphaRank reportedly accepts PNG and JPG images, checks PNG colour type for an alpha channel, and assesses whether apparent transparency is merely a white matte baked into the image. The 10-point bonus is an app-specific rule reported by the creator, not an independently tested scoring result.

The creator reports judging takes 15 to 60 seconds. That is a stated range, not a measured performance guarantee. The project description also says each account may make one scored submission per 24 hours; these settings should be checked in the app because their current status is not independently established.

How do you submit artwork?

The creator describes this submission flow:

  1. Sign in with Google.
  2. Complete a profile.
  3. Upload a PNG or JPG.
  4. Add a title and choose a category.
  5. Submit the artwork for scoring.

The project description says users can view the public leaderboard and feed without an account, but must sign in to submit. It describes submission states as pending, scoring, scored, and rejected; leaderboard entries are limited to scored items.

What happens to submissions and personal information?

The creator disclosed that an earlier version stored artist email addresses on artwork documents in a publicly readable Sanity dataset, exposing five addresses. Shah says the issue was fixed by removing email addresses from those documents, deriving a peppered SHA-256 hash from the session email using AUTH_SECRET, migrating the old fields, and rerunning a public query. This is the creator’s account of a past incident and remediation, not an independent security audit; it does not establish the current app’s security state.

In the project description, Shah writes: “A projection in your own queries is a habit, not a security control.” The quote reflects the creator’s explanation of the incident, rather than independent expert guidance.

What technology does AlphaRank use?

Shah identifies the stack as Next.js 16, Sanity v6, and Vercel, with no other database. The creator says artwork and feed posts are publicly readable, while judging criteria and submission counters are filtered from public reads and require a server-held token.

The described workflow is a custom submission and scoring process. Shah explicitly distinguishes it from Sanity Workflows and says the project does not use the App SDK. The creator also summarizes the design goal this way: “If something about the app needed a code change to be adjustable, it was in the wrong place.”

What should you know before relying on AlphaRank?

The available account is a creator-authored project description. It does not independently establish whether the app is currently available, whether its reported timing and submission limits still apply, its commercial terms, or its present security posture. Treat the scoring rubric and process above as the creator’s description, and review the app’s own current information before uploading artwork or personal details.
