Allied Bank describes its metaverse experience as Pakistan’s first, but that “first” claim is the bank’s own characterization; the available official material does not independently confirm a market-wide comparison. Allied Bank says it first entered the metaverse in 2022, then announced an upgraded experience on 19 June 2025. Its service page, last updated 27 January 2026, describes a browser-based virtual branch as well as an optional VR route.
What Allied Bank’s metaverse experience is
Allied Bank presents the experience as an interactive 3D environment for exploring the bank’s digital presence and learning about its services. The bank’s 2025 annual report describes the virtual branch as a persistent environment for prospective customers to explore account and card offerings and digital lockers. It is framed as a customer-engagement touchpoint, not a replacement for the bank’s ordinary channels.
The bank lists the following features in its current service description:

- An interactive map and a virtual digital lobby showing self-service banking equipment.
- Information about debit and credit cards, accounts, and financing.
- Digital lockers, an entertainment area with games, and a feedback tool.
These are features Allied Bank says the environment provides. The published descriptions do not establish that every interaction completes a live financial transaction.

How to access the virtual branch
A headset is not needed: Allied Bank offers a web route for desktop and laptop users. Visitors can register and create an avatar, sign in, or enter as a guest. The bank lists Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Opera GX as supported browsers.
Web access
Allied Bank recommends a desktop or laptop with at least a fifth-generation processor, 8 GB of RAM, and a dedicated graphics card. It also says a stable, high-speed connection is preferable and gives 10 Mbps as its preferred speed. These are the bank’s recommendations, not independently tested minimum requirements or a guarantee of performance.

VR access
The bank recommends Meta Quest devices and says other Android VR headsets may be used. Its setup directions for Meta Quest involve the Meta Horizon app, SideQuest, enabling developer mode, connecting the headset to a computer by USB, and installing the Allied Bank app. Registration for VR login must first be completed through the web version, according to the service page.

When Allied Bank introduced and upgraded it
Allied Bank’s upgrade announcement says its first metaverse entry was in 2022. The bank’s news listing dates “Allied Bank Unveils Next-Generation Metaverse Banking Experience” to 19 June 2025. The current service page was last updated 27 January 2026; that date describes the page update, not a new launch.
Who built the platform, and why the bank says it made the upgrade
Allied Bank says the upgraded experience is built on Orion, an enterprise metaverse platform developed by Avanza Innovations. That identifies the technology relationship stated by the bank; it does not establish a consumer affiliate offer or a separate commercial program.

In the upgrade announcement, Mohsin Mithani, Allied Bank’s Chief Digital Officer, described the bank’s rationale: “We continue to explore emerging technologies that redefine how customers experience banking — especially the younger, digitally native generation who expect immersive, gamified, and always-on engagement. By bridging financial services with cutting-edge virtual environments, we are shaping a future-ready ecosystem that speaks the language of tomorrow’s customers.” This is the bank’s stated aim, not independent evidence of customer demand or measured results.

What is not established
The official materials describe the experience and its access options, but do not provide adoption figures, performance results, or measured evidence that it improves banking outcomes. Nor do the sources establish independently that Allied Bank was first across Pakistan’s banking market. The service is best understood from the published information as an optional way to explore banking information in a virtual environment—not proof that banking transactions have moved into the metaverse.
