ALLFATHER is a forthcoming first-person roguelike dungeon crawler rooted in Norse mythology. Its reveal describes a fallen shieldmaiden fighting through Helheim toward Valhalla, with stamina-focused combat, procedurally generated runs and progression that carries between deaths. Steam currently lists the game as “Coming soon,” without a dated release window.
What is ALLFATHER?
Created by Tommy McKay, who is listed as both developer and publisher on Steam, ALLFATHER puts players in the role of a shieldmaiden rejected by the Valkyries. Her journey leads through Helheim and toward Valhalla, across Norse-inspired realms.

Each run is framed as a fresh climb through procedurally generated dungeons. Realms act as biomes, with distinct environments, enemies and bosses. Gamezebo describes McKay as a veteran roguelike developer who previously made the self-published game Gnomes, and characterizes ALLFATHER as his first solo-developer release.
Gamezebo’s October 1, 2026 reveal and the ALLFATHER Steam listing establish the premise and currently announced features.

How combat and runs work
Stamina, timing and awareness
ALLFATHER’s combat is presented as deliberate rather than button-mashing: players must manage stamina, time attacks and pay attention to threats. Announcement coverage dated September 29, 2026 attributes this line to McKay: “Button mashing gets you killed, awareness and patience keep you alive.”
The same announcement coverage quotes McKay describing the intended tension: permadeath raises the stakes of each fight, while blessings are choices that shape the rest of a run. He says he wants players to focus on mastering combat and adapting to a different build, rather than inventory management and bookkeeping. These are attributed statements from the announcement article, not an independently accessed interview transcript.
Procedural routes and run choices
Runs combine generated dungeons with experience, leveling and selectable rewards. Blessings from the gods and relics can change a run’s build. The route is one-way: doors lock behind the player, bosses close off regions, and portal choices determine which rewards come next. Those systems make route selection and resource-conscious fighting part of the same decision-making loop.
What persists after death
Death ends a run, but runes and iron remain in Hel’s Hall. Steam says players can spend these resources with merchants, craft weapons that alter play style and allocate ability-boosting runes between runs. The result is a mix of run-level risk and persistent progression; the store description does not specify the full economy or how much progress each resource can buy.
Release status, platform and system requirements
Steam currently marks ALLFATHER as “Coming soon” and says it is not yet available there. The listing gives no dated release window. Its platform and requirements are store information that may change before launch.

Visual approach and what the reveal does not establish
Steam describes an old-school RPG aesthetic made with modern technology, and says the models, textures, animation, voice, sound and music were created by human artists. The reveal and store listing do not provide named sales, audience or reception figures, nor do they establish a physical edition. They also do not give a confirmed launch date.
For now, the official Steam listing is the most direct place to follow availability and changing system details: ALLFATHER on Steam.
