Yes. Samsung launched the Galaxy S23, S23+ and S23 Ultra globally with the same customized Qualcomm platform: Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy. Its CPU reaches peak speeds of up to 3.36GHz. The pre-launch “could get” framing is now settled: the chip shipped across the S23 family.
Which Galaxy S23 models use Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy?
All three: the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23 Ultra. Qualcomm’s February 1, 2023 announcement says the platform powers the Galaxy S23 series globally. Samsung’s Galaxy S23 specification sheet likewise lists an octa-core Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy processor, with speeds up to 3.36GHz.
That shared platform is the Galaxy-specific version of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Qualcomm describes its Kryo CPU as accelerated, with peak speeds of up to 3.36GHz. The figure is a maximum CPU speed, not a promise that the processor runs at that rate continuously.

- Galaxy S23 sports a 6.1-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X flat display with adaptive 48–120 Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and a peak brightness high enough for strong outdoor visibility — giving you vibrant, crisp visuals and smooth motion while staying compact.
What does the 3.36GHz overclock mean?
It means the Galaxy version’s CPU can reach a higher peak clock speed than the standard Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 configuration. Qualcomm called it the fastest Snapdragon at launch. Clock speed alone, however, does not establish how much faster a phone feels in everyday use: results also depend on workload, cooling, power limits and software.
Qualcomm’s summary of its Galaxy S23-series AMA said the platform offered more than 40% higher performance than the previous generation. Samsung separately reported that the S23 series’ GPU was approximately 41% faster than the Galaxy S22 series and that its NPU optimization reached 49%. Those are company-reported comparisons and optimizations, not a single independent benchmark; Samsung’s GPU figure specifically compares with the S22 series.

No. The processor is a common baseline, but the models differ in their screens, cameras, battery capacities, charging, and memory and storage configurations. Choose between them based on those features and your budget, rather than expecting a different processor in the larger models.

- Choose the Galaxy S23 if its screen size, camera set, battery and available configurations suit you better than the larger models.
- Choose the Galaxy S23+ if its particular combination of screen, cameras, battery, charging and memory or storage options fits your needs.
- Choose the Galaxy S23 Ultra if its camera hardware and other model-specific features justify its size and price for you.
For a meaningful comparison, check the exact regional specifications and prices for the configurations you are considering. All three share the same Snapdragon platform, so the processor does not distinguish one S23 model from another.
