Where to drop first—and what to do if the chest is missing
Beebom recommends the Freaky Fields and Nightmare Neighborhood area for its reported concentration of chests. That density may make it a useful first target, but the guide also warns that other players may contest it. Choose a landing area based on your route from the Battle Bus and how much competition you are willing to face.
A listed spot is not a promise that a chest will spawn in every match. Playnews likewise cautions that possible locations can be empty and its shorter list is not exhaustive. If you do not find one, move to another reported area rather than spending the match searching only one spot.

How to open a Pumpkin Chest
- Approach a Pumpkin Chest at one of the reported areas.
- Hold the Interact input for a few seconds. Beebom lists F on keyboard and Square/X on controller; your platform or custom key bindings may differ.
- Collect the weapon and random Sprite the guide says the chest grants.
Epic’s October 1 Fortnitemares announcement establishes the event context and identifies Freaky Fields and Nightmare Neighborhood as Battle Royale POIs, but it does not enumerate chest locations. Epic’s Communities post confirms the chest-and-Sprite mechanic and names Spooky Dash, Vampire, Deer, Dumpster Dive, and Honey and Obsession Sprites. It notes Honey and Obsession for October 15; the post does not provide a chest map.

Quest and reward details
Beebom reports that smashing a Pumpkin Chest completes a Fortnitemares quest for 15,000 XP and that completing Fortnitemares quests contributes toward the Jack-A-Nape skin. These are event-specific claims from a secondary guide, not a guarantee of your current progression or reward. Check the live in-game quest panel before relying on them.
