Valor Mortis has 20 side quests in its launch campaign. Six award trophies, while The Choir is the only reported missable quest because its jail area exists only during Chapter 10: Shackled. The rest can be completed after the story, so a careful note-and-survivor sweep is more important than rushing through each chapter.
How many side quests are in Valor Mortis?
PowerPyx’s walkthrough, published October 13, 2026, counts 20 side quests. The quests generally begin when you pick up a note, enter a particular location or speak with a survivor. Their usual rewards are Amber or upgrade materials, although individual outcomes and items vary.

Six of the 20 quests have dedicated trophies. That leaves 14 additional side quests without a listed quest trophy. The count refers to the campaign content available at launch; the Deluxe Edition’s Major Story DLC is described by the developers as a separate story rather than an addition to the main campaign’s side-quest count.
The six trophy-linked side quests
All six trophy quests are positioned away from the obvious main route. Use the names below when checking your trophy list or comparing your notes with a walkthrough.

The six trophy quests are not presented as a single chain. Finding one does not automatically reveal the next, so treat each region as a separate search.
Which Valor Mortis side quest is missable?
The Choir
The Choir is the only quest reported as missable. Its jail area is available only during Chapter 10: Shackled. If you leave that chapter without entering the jail and starting the quest, the opportunity is lost. The Choir does not award one of the six quest trophies and instead gives a consumable.

All other side quests
Except for The Choir, side quests can be started and completed after the main story. This makes post-game cleanup viable, but it does not remove the need to search Chapter 10’s jail while it is accessible.

Valor Mortis has no map screen. The following routine is the most reliable way to reduce missed triggers:

- Talk to every survivor twice. A second conversation can expose an open quest or new dialogue.
- Walk the edges of each region. Check side paths, dead ends and buildings before taking the clearly marked main road.
- Read every note. Notes are a common quest trigger, not just background lore.
- Check for open conversations before closing a chapter. This is especially important before leaving Chapter 10: Shackled because of The Choir.
- Record the region and chapter when a quest starts. A simple checklist prevents a discovered note from being mistaken for a completed objective.
The six trophy quests are all off the main path, so a purely story-focused run can finish the campaign while leaving several trophies untouched.
The Oathbound: documented opening route
The Oathbound is the clearest example of how side-quest searching works. Follow the areas in this order:

The quest rewards an Empty Ferrofluid Flask and Quintessential Blade Material, and completing it unlocks the We Wear the Same Colours trophy. Use the same region-by-region approach for the other quests rather than assuming their triggers sit beside the main objective.

Do dialogue choices change rewards?
Some side quests offer dialogue choices that can change the outcome or the way the story resolves. PowerPyx reports that the listed reward remains the same regardless of those choices. Choose the response that fits the outcome you want; there is no documented reward advantage to one branch.

What to check before declaring a run complete
- Confirm all six trophy names appear in your trophy list: We Wear the Same Colours, A Bitter Cure, Blood and Wine, Hand in the Jar, Aggressive Reconnaissance and The Book of Beasts.
- Search every region for notes, survivors and open side paths.
- Enter the Chapter 10: Shackled jail before leaving that chapter to secure The Choir.
- Return after the story for any non-Choir quests you postponed.
- Keep the campaign total separate from the Deluxe Edition’s separately described Major Story DLC.
