Is an Alita sequel confirmed?
No sequel is confirmed by the October 2, 2026 ComicBook.com article. It says James Cameron has discussed the story as one that could support one or two sequels and has not ruled out returning to Alita’s world. That is evidence of past discussion, not an announcement that a film is greenlit, in production, or scheduled for release. Fans may still hope for a continuation, but a release date or production status cannot be inferred from those comments.
What is Alita: Battle Angel?
It is a 2019 live-action film directed by Robert Rodriguez, not a video game. The film adapts Yukito Kishiro’s Gunnm manga series, also known as Battle Angel Alita. Readers interested in the story’s source can look for manga editions, checking the language, volume coverage, format, and listing details before choosing one; the streaming report does not identify a particular edition.

How did the film perform?
ComicBook.com’s October 2, 2026 article reports a 61% Rotten Tomatoes critics score and a 91% audience score. Those are figures as reported by that article, not independently verified current scores, and ratings can change. The same article reports worldwide box office of $405 million and a production budget range of $150 million to $200 million; these figures are likewise attributed to ComicBook.com rather than presented as independently audited totals.
