The Alienware AW2527HX pairs a 24.5-inch, 1920×1080 QD-OLED panel with a reported 560Hz refresh rate and esports-specific controls, including a button that stretches a 4:3 image across the screen. Its focus is clear: competitive players who value speed and visibility over a larger, higher-resolution display. The available coverage is a show-floor hands-on report, not a controlled lab review, so its performance impressions should be read in that context.

What the AW2527HX offers

Club386’s Ben Hardwidge reported the AW2527HX’s 24.5-inch Full HD resolution, QD-OLED panel and 560Hz refresh rate after seeing it at IFA in Berlin. That combination targets players who want a compact screen and can run their games at exceptionally high frame rates. A 560Hz panel cannot create frames the computer does not render; its benefit depends on the game and PC sustaining a correspondingly high output.

Hardwidge reported that Counter-Strike 2 was running steadily at 560Hz at the show and described the image as responsive, with no visible ghosting. Those are show-floor observations, not results from a controlled test. Club386 also quotes Alienware’s 0.03ms gray-to-gray response time; that is a manufacturer figure, not an independently measured result.

Esports controls and design choices

One-button 4:3 stretching

A dedicated esports button changes the image to 1280×960 and stretches it across the full 16:9 panel, rather than displaying it with black bars at the sides. Club386 says the wider-looking targets reflect feedback from Team Liquid players. This is a preference-oriented option, not a universal competitive advantage: players who prefer the proportions of an unstretched 4:3 image may not want it.

TN emulation for a less vivid picture

The monitor includes a TN emulation mode that deliberately washes out QD-OLED color. Club386 reports that Alienware added the mode for players accustomed to TN monitors who might find OLED’s deep contrast and saturated colors distracting. It offers a way to change the visual character of the screen without choosing a TN panel.

Less visual clutter around the screen

The physical design also moves potential distractions out of the way: there is no front-facing logo, the headset hanger pulls out from the rear, the ports face outward, and the stand routes cables. The OSD joystick is on the back. PCWorld additionally reports height markers, a compact rotating base and 155mm of stand adjustment. Hardwidge described the approach this way: “This is a theme throughout the design of this monitor – anything that could possibly pull your eyes away from action in the middle of the screen has been carefully moved so it won’t draw your eyes.”

Panel technology and reported specifications

Club386 describes the panel as Samsung Display’s fifth-generation Penta Tandem QD-OLED with an RGB Stripe subpixel layout. The report says the stripe layout is intended to reduce colored fringing around text seen with prior QD-OLED arrangements; that is a design benefit described by the source, not a measurement established by its hands-on account.

Who should consider a 560Hz Full HD OLED?

It may fit competitive players who prioritize frame rate

The AW2527HX makes the most sense if you play competitive titles, prefer a 24.5-inch screen, and your system can sustain very high frame rates in the games you play. Dell’s general gaming-monitor guide advises matching refresh rate to graphics output. A high maximum refresh rate is less compelling if your PC routinely produces substantially fewer frames.

  • QD-OLED technology enables stunningly rich color and clarity, while QHD resolution (2560x1440) provides high level of detail.
  • 360Hz refresh rate translates to superb motion clarity, empowering players to see and react to in-game situations at high speed.
  • 0.03 ms gray-to-gray minimum response time** virtually eliminates blurring and ghosting and keeps latency to an absolute minimum.
  • Infinite contrast ratio and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 make for deep blacks and stunning brights, all in the same scene.
  • Excellent color performance with DCI-P3 99.3% color coverage and Delta E<2 accuracy for true-to-life visuals.

It is not the obvious choice for resolution-first gaming

At 1920×1080 on a 24.5-inch panel, the AW2527HX prioritizes speed and a relatively compact viewing area rather than the extra detail or workspace available on larger QHD or 4K screens. Players who value high-resolution single-player games, broader desktop space or a larger display should weigh those priorities against the monitor’s unusually high refresh rate.

OLED does not automatically mean the right competitive image

QD-OLED offers a different contrast and color character from older TN esports displays, while the TN emulation mode acknowledges that some players prefer a less vivid look. The choice depends partly on which image style helps you focus; the available hands-on reporting does not establish that one mode makes players faster.

What the hands-on coverage does—and does not—establish

The show-floor account supports a useful picture of the monitor’s intended features and observed behavior, but it is not a substitute for independent testing. It does not establish controlled response-time or motion-clarity results, long-term burn-in performance, or current price and availability. Treat the quoted response time as Alienware’s claim and the smooth CS2 experience as one reported demonstration, not a guarantee for every setup.

These findings concern the AW2527HX specifically. Other Alienware esports monitors, including the AW2524HF, are separate products and their specifications should not be substituted for this model’s.
