Alibaba’s first self-developed AI eyewear was announced as Quark AI Glasses at WAIC 2025, with a planned China release by the end of that year. Alibaba subsequently adopted the Qwen Glasses and Qwen AI Glasses branding for newer products, including the S1/G1 series and the N1/N1 Pro models. The names describe a product chronology rather than one single, unchanged pair of glasses.
What Alibaba launched first
At WAIC 2025, Alibaba Cloud said the company had entered AI wearables with Quark AI Glasses, calling them its first self-developed smart eyewear. The announcement said an official release in China was expected by the end of 2025. That statement is the starting point for Alibaba’s AI-glasses story.
Alibaba described the first glasses as an AI smart-glasses product with hands-free calling, music streaming, real-time translation, meeting transcription and high-quality imaging. Voice interactions were also described as connecting with Amap navigation, Alipay, Taobao and Fliggy. These are capabilities claimed in Alibaba’s announcement; the cited material does not independently verify performance, accuracy or availability of every service.

Why the name changed to Qwen Glasses
Later Alibaba materials used Qwen branding. Alibaba Group now describes Qwen AI Glasses as its first fully self-developed smart wearable, emphasizing integrated hardware and software. That description refers to the later Qwen product family and should not be read as erasing the 2025 Quark launch.

The Qwen description lists proactive services, point-of-view recording, a spatial 3D display, AI-powered voice cloning and simultaneous interpretation. Alibaba does not provide a complete model-by-model specification in the cited material, so a feature listed for the Qwen family should not automatically be assumed to exist on every Quark, S1, G1, N1 or N1 Pro unit.
