The Aldi Stirling STR-E15BGD is a semi-automatic espresso machine with an integrated conical burr grinder, a 58 mm portafilter and a steam wand. Its controls include 15 grinder settings, adjustable shot volume and three brew-temperature choices. What the STR-E15BGD offers
Stirling describes a stainless-steel and plastic machine built around an integrated, on-demand conical burr grinder. How the features affect everyday use
Grinding and espresso preparation
An integrated grinder reduces counter clutter and removes the need to choose a separate grinder. In exchange, its 15 listed settings provide a limited number of adjustment steps compared with a continuously adjustable grinder. The 58 mm portafilter and adjustable shot volume provide familiar control points for someone comparing semi-automatic workflows, but the published specifications do not show whether the grinder or shot controls deliver consistent results.
Temperature and milk drinks
Three selectable brew temperatures and PID control give users options for setting brew temperature. The 360-degree steam wand makes milk-based drinks possible. No available evidence establishes steaming speed, milk texture, ease of use or whether the temperature choices produce a particular taste result.

Capacity and shutdown choices
The detachable 2.3 L reservoir is the stated water capacity. Automatic shutoff can be set to 9 minutes, 30 minutes or 3 hours. These are configurable convenience features; the available evidence does not establish how often a typical user will need to refill the tank or which shutoff setting is best.
Cleaning and descaling
Stirling lists a cleaning tool, brush, descaling alert and self-cleaning function. The October 2024 manual directs users to descale with a commercially available descaling agent, then run clean water through the machine until the water is completely clean before brewing, dispensing water or using the steam wand. It calls for a second clean-water cycle as part of that process. CHOICE listing, historical price and availability
CHOICE describes the STR-E15BGD as discontinued. Its product listing shows $399, while Stirling’s product page listed $399 for an October 12, 2024 on-sale date and stated a three-year warranty.
