This is a historical technology story, not current buying advice. InfoWorld’s archive dates the article to December 2, 2007, credits David Marshall, and says Akorri was offering small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) packages and pricing for virtualization performance management. The archive confirms that Migo announced virtualization involving portable devices, but its excerpt does not explain the product or technology.

What the 2007 headline describes

The headline joins two separate developments: Akorri’s attempt to reach SMB buyers with virtualization-management software, and a Migo announcement involving virtualization and portable devices. The available InfoWorld archive summary supports those broad points, but does not provide the full article text or enough detail to explain Migo’s implementation.

What Akorri offered SMBs

Akorri worked in virtual-infrastructure performance and capacity management. The 2007 summary says the company was packaging and pricing its offering to reach smaller businesses; it does not identify the specific packages, prices, or eligibility terms.

Later reporting helps explain the software category. In 2010, CRN described Akorri’s BalancePoint as analyzing infrastructure across virtualization layers and technology silos, covering virtual and physical servers and storage. That account provides context for Akorri’s role in managing production systems; it does not establish that the product or company remains available today. Akorri’s historical channel strategy

Akorri also used channel partners to reach customers. ChannelPro reported on October 28, 2009, that its PartnerPoint program included tiered partner support. Its premier tier offered online education and certification, marketing resources, sales support, deal registration, and margin protection. These are historical program details, not current partner terms. ChannelPro’s 2009 report on PartnerPoint

What “Migo goes virtual” means—and what remains unknown

The archive excerpt establishes only that Migo’s announcement concerned virtualization and portable devices. It does not identify the Migo product, the devices involved, what “virtual” meant technically, or what media or software the approach required. Without the full original article or another source establishing those details, a more specific explanation would be speculation. InfoWorld’s archived article listing

How to read the story today

Read the Akorri clause as a snapshot of a 2007 market in which virtualization performance management was attracting interest and vendors were trying to make it accessible to SMBs. BalancePoint and PartnerPoint provide historical context for Akorri’s software and sales approach, respectively; none of these reports is evidence of present-day product availability.

The Migo clause is less conclusive: it records an announcement but not enough technical information to reconstruct it. The title alone also does not justify recommending a portable storage device or accessory. No specific hardware recommendation can be supported by the available details.
