For a Samsung phone, Galaxy Buds are the natural first choice if you want Samsung-specific features and phone integration. AirPods also pair with Samsung phones over Bluetooth, so you can keep using them—but pairing does not bring Apple-device integrations to Android. The right pick depends on the specific earbuds, phone, software version, and the other devices you use.
Can you use AirPods with a Samsung phone?
Yes. Apple provides Bluetooth pairing instructions for using AirPods with non-Apple devices, including Android phones. Follow Apple’s instructions for pairing AirPods with a non-Apple device.
This establishes basic Bluetooth audio use, not feature parity with an iPhone. Apple’s pairing guidance does not establish that Apple-device integrations are available on Samsung phones. If you already own AirPods and mainly need wireless audio, you can use them; check support for the exact AirPods generation and the Android software or apps you plan to use before relying on additional controls.

Galaxy Buds can connect as Bluetooth audio across operating systems. Samsung distinguishes that basic connection from advanced setup and controls, which can depend on a compatible Android device, the Galaxy Wearable app, or supported phone software. See Samsung’s Galaxy earbuds connection and compatibility guidance for the relevant device and app pathways.
#1 Best Overall
- EXCEPTIONAL AUDIO: Catch details like never before. Designed with a High-Res Audio¹ 24-bit hi-fi codec, the latest Galaxy earbuds maintain the integrity of your favorite audio over Bluetooth.
- TWO-WAY SPEAKER: Enjoy every audio experience to the fullest with two speakers in both Buds, including a tweeter for rich highs and a woofer for deep, full lows.
- HD VOICE: Enjoy clear phone calls with Galaxy Buds4 Pro and Galaxy S26 Series² —they work together to deliver crisp and clear conversations.
- ANC 2.0: Wherever you go, Adaptive Active Noise Cancellation 2.0³ intelligently adapts in real time to provide stronger, smoother noise cancellation wherever you go.
- OPTIMIZED COMFORT: Enjoy that just-right fit, with an improved, ear-hugging design and changeable ear tips.
In other words, basic listening and access to every setting are not the same thing. Check compatibility for your exact Buds model rather than assuming that support listed for an older model applies to a newer one.
What do Galaxy Buds offer Samsung phone owners?
Samsung documents Galaxy-specific functions for its earbuds, making Galaxy Buds the more direct fit if you want features designed to work with a Galaxy phone. But availability depends on the particular Buds model and a compatible phone and software configuration.
Rank #2
For example, Samsung’s February 26, 2026 Galaxy Buds4 series announcement says AI features require a compatible Samsung Galaxy phone. It also says advanced Galaxy Wearable settings require Android 10 or later and at least 1.5 GB of memory. Those requirements apply to the qualifications Samsung gives for the Buds4 series; do not assume they define support for every Buds generation or every feature. Verify the current requirements for the exact earbuds and phone you intend to use.

Choose Galaxy Buds if Samsung integration is your priority
If you use a Samsung phone as your main device and want Samsung-specific functions and supported phone controls, start with Galaxy Buds. Confirm that your particular phone meets the requirements for any feature you care about; the Galaxy Buds name alone does not guarantee that every feature is available on every Galaxy phone.

Keep or choose AirPods if you also use Apple devices
If you already own AirPods or value using the same earbuds with Apple devices, continuing to use them with a Samsung phone can make sense. They pair over Bluetooth, but do not assume Apple-device integrations carry over. Confirm any Android-specific app or control support for your AirPods generation before buying them primarily for use with Samsung.
Compare exact models for sound, fit, and price
Compatibility information does not establish a universal winner for sound quality, comfort, active noise cancellation, calls, battery life, durability, or value. Those comparisons need to be made between specific current models using reliable model-level evidence. Choose based on those needs only after checking the precise versions available to you.
Quick Recap
What to check before buying
- Exact earbud model: Requirements and controls can differ by generation.
- Your phone and software: Check the manufacturer’s current compatibility details for your Samsung model and operating-system version.
- Features you expect to use: Separate basic Bluetooth listening from app-based settings and ecosystem-specific features.
- Your other devices: Consider whether you also rely on Apple devices or want Samsung-focused integration.
- Model-specific performance: Compare current evidence for fit, sound, noise cancellation, calls, battery, and price rather than inferring those qualities from the brand.
