AION 2 launched globally on October 5, 2026, and NCSoft reported that the game topped Steam’s global Popular New Releases and Trending Free charts on October 6. The publisher separately said AION 2 led Steam’s revenue-based Top Sellers chart during its paid Early Access period, so “No. 1 on Steam” refers to different charts at different times—not one continuous ranking.
When did AION 2 launch globally?
NCSoft says AION 2 global service began October 5, 2026, on Steam and its PURPLE platform. Its October 6 launch report said first-day peak concurrent users exceeded 400,000; that is a publisher-reported figure, not an independently audited count. NCSoft says global servers serve North America, South America, Europe, and Asia (Japan), with support for eight languages. The release names English, Japanese, French, German, and Spanish; the cited announcement does not identify the other three.

The official AION 2 site also lists October 5 as the launch date and describes a launch gift for qualifying accounts. Check the site for current eligibility and details, since reward offers can change or expire.

It depends on the chart and date. In an October 6 report, NCSoft said AION 2 was No. 1 on Steam’s global Popular New Releases and Trending Free charts. Those are distinct from Top Sellers, a revenue-based chart, and the reported positions are dated snapshots rather than a guarantee of the game’s current standing.

The 13-country and 15-country figures are separate announcements from different dates; they should not be combined or treated as conflicting measurements. The September 30 claim is an earlier snapshot, while NCSoft’s later report describes the Early Access period through October 4.
Steam rankings can move as activity changes. For a live position, check Steam’s charts directly rather than relying on an older launch report.
Is AION 2 free to play?
Yes. Steam lists AION 2 as free to play and playable on PC. The game also had a paid Founder’s Pack Early Access period from September 30 through October 4, before the October 5 global service start; that paid period explains why the earlier Top Sellers result is a different kind of ranking from the launch-week free-chart claims. The available launch information does not establish all current monetization terms.

What kind of game is AION 2, and what PC does it need?
Steam describes AION 2 as an MMORPG featuring aerial combat. Its store description calls the world 36 times larger than the original AION; that is the game’s promotional comparison, not an independently measured result. The store page lists minimum and recommended PC system requirements. Compare a Windows PC or any proposed component upgrade against those published specifications rather than assuming a particular model will run the game well.
The Steam description also says, “The sky is not the limit. It is the battlefield.”
