There is no evidence-backed seven-tool ranking here: the available information does not establish seven current products on comparable terms or identify a quality winner. The options that can be described are three different workflows—a paid desktop application, an open-source framework, and a browser service. Choose between them by how you want to process footage, what control you need, and whether you prefer a subscription or credit purchase.

Upscaling makes a video frame larger and may synthesize detail; it cannot guarantee recovery of detail absent from the source. Results depend on the footage and processing choices, so treat vendor feature descriptions as claims, not proof of comparative quality.

Which type of AI video upscaling tool fits your workflow?

Option What it is Access model found Best fit to consider
Topaz Video Desktop video-enhancement application Paid monthly or annual plans; broader bundle options are also listed Editors who want local desktop rendering and a suite of enhancement controls
Video2X Open-source machine-learning video super-resolution and frame-interpolation framework Project distributed under GNU AGPL version 3 Users prepared to follow project documentation and manage a framework-based workflow
AIUpscaler.video Browser-based service with Video2X or Topaz Enhance processing choices listed on its page One-time credit packs; the vendor says new subscriptions are no longer offered Users who prefer an online workflow and are comfortable uploading footage

These are not interchangeable product categories, and the available information does not establish equal output quality, ease of use, or processing speed. A comparison should be tested on the same representative clips before treating one as a quality winner.

Topaz Video: desktop processing and enhancement controls

Topaz Labs describes Topaz Video as a professional-grade desktop application that uses multiple AI models. Its product page lists upscaling, sharpening, noise and artifact removal, detail restoration, and stabilization. These are vendor-described capabilities, not independent test findings.

The pricing page, accessed October 7, 2026, lists Mac and PC desktop plans at $299 per year, $39 per month with an annual commitment, or $59 per month for month-to-month billing. Topaz for Web Video is listed at $199 per year, discounted from $299, or $19 per month, discounted from $29. Prices and offers can change; check the Topaz Video pricing page before buying.

Desktop plans and cloud credits are different

Topaz Studio is listed at $399 per year and includes 300 monthly video cloud credits; the pricing page says local desktop rendering is unlimited. Its Pro offering has different commercial-use terms and increased credits. Do not assume that Studio’s personal or small-organization terms apply to Pro or vice versa; check the current license terms for your intended use.

Video2X: an open-source framework, not a typical desktop app

Video2X describes itself as a machine-learning video super-resolution and frame-interpolation framework and lists the GNU AGPL version 3 license. That establishes its project and license category, but not that it is beginner-friendly or that its output matches a commercial application. Review the current Video2X GitHub repository for documentation, setup requirements, and license details before building it into a workflow.

AIUpscaler.video: browser processing with prepaid credits

AIUpscaler.video is an online service rather than a local desktop application. Its pricing page lists Video2X or Topaz Enhance processing choices. The vendor lists one-time packs of 600 credits for $9.90, 1,600 credits for $19.90, and 5,000 credits for $49.90, and says credits do not expire and new subscriptions are no longer offered. These are vendor-published terms accessed October 7, 2026; verify the current AIUpscaler.video credit packs and file limits before uploading or paying.

The service says commercial use is allowed when you own the original video or hold a license that covers commercial use. It also notes that upscaling does not grant rights to third-party source material. Those are the vendor’s stated policy terms, not a substitute for checking your own rights and the current service terms.

How to choose without a misleading “best” ranking

  • Choose a workflow category first. Decide whether you need a desktop application, a framework you can configure, or browser-based processing.
  • Check processing location and footage limits. Local rendering and cloud processing have different privacy and upload implications. For any online service, confirm supported file sizes, durations, and export limits before committing footage.
  • Separate free access from free processing. Open-source availability, a free interface or panel, a trial, and a free hosted tier are different things. Check whether exports are watermarked or capped, whether a login is required, and whether processing consumes paid credits.
  • Match features to the problem in the clip. Upscaling addresses output dimensions; denoising, sharpening, stabilization, or frame interpolation address other issues. A longer feature list does not prove a better result on your footage.
  • Check license and commercial terms. Confirm the software license, plan-specific usage rights, number of seats, and rights to the source material before using results commercially.
  • Test representative footage. Compare the same short clips—including the flaws you need to fix—at the intended output size. No comparative quality benchmark or independent winner is established by the cited product information.

What the available information does—and does not—establish

The official information supports describing Topaz Video’s listed features and pricing, Video2X’s project category and license, and AIUpscaler.video’s listed credit packs and stated policies. It does not support naming seven verified current products, ranking their performance, or assigning quality ratings. AVCLabs Video Enhancer AI appears in an official search result as an upscaling and enhancement product, but current store pricing and terms were not confirmed, so it is not included as a verified recommendation.
